  1. Very nice work.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you accurately match up the cuts?

Looking good and I even like the two tone look of rust on the top and paint on the bottom!! :) It's usually the other way around.

    Nice work Tinman

NO!!! definitely not to a 4 door, haha. The last owner tried to chop it and had some issues come up, so it needed a roof, thats all.

    Ok, here's my trick.

Hard to explain,, but here goes

I whittled the top down till it was within an eighth inch, then I pulled it down till it touched, and tacked it into place.

Take a cut off wheel and cut/grind all the gaps to 1/8"

then cut the tacks loose and let it fall.

    Gaps came out nearly perfect!

In fact it all fits real tight, it nested down perfectly and I used one clamp and a ratchet strap to get it tacked in place.

and to show off a bit more,,,,,,

    (Dwight liked it too!)

The outer skin is welded and I started on the inner structure as well, wasnt a very productive day as my tig torch self destructed. Its fixed now but cost me a few hours right in the middle of the day. I still hope to have a door top on tomorrow.
