Hey, that run wasn't too shabby. Looked great and I bet you felt like Garlits making a pass.

I always loved that car and still do.

    14.8 @ 88mph. I think it was a 0.8s reaction, but I'd need to double check.

Steve, when you add some more horsepower, the launch will need work. The launch was always the key to that car running quick. I had the blessing of coaching from one of the true masters, Mr. Don Nicholson. The first time Don saw me drive the car at Pomona I was running 12.90's. He told me he though the car had a lot more in it. I said "show me". Don proceeded to run a 12.10 his first time ever in the car. I had been launching at nearly wide open throttle. Don taught me to feel the hook up in the seat of my pants, don't over power the tires. He was a master at feathering the throttle off the line. By the end of the day I ran a 12.30. I still needed to be taught the art of power shifting.

I know this might be a stupid question; but is this Dyno Don? Or is there more then one?

I'm from halfway around the World, I hope that buys me a little slack.

It aint all bad with that result Steve (!), but you can't go wrong with a well build frame, a nice finish on the car and a good engine set up.

Do you have any pictures of the underside? I really like the car, and have seen alot of pictures of this beautiful car, but not many of the Kurtis build frame.

Yes, my driving coach was THE "Dyno" Don Nicholson. He was doing the tuning on the engine on the Service Chevrolet dyno during that period.

If you can find a January '62 Hot Rod magazine, there is a shot of the underside in the article. The fram was nothing fancy. Because of the rules at the time, we had to use stock Model A frame rails. The cross members were replaced with well gusseted chromoly tubing. That gave plenty of ridgidity, so the rails were not boxed.

Ha, Thank god I'm not as dumb is I look like. :-D

I would love to find the 62 Magazine you talk about, but that aint all that easy over here.
Finding one, let alone an old one is hard!

I own a November 2000 Rods & custom Magazine. Thats the only American Magazine I've found and I bought it in an mall in Vancouver the only time I've ever been to the other side of the Atlantic.
I was 16, and the mag was about Classic/retro rods.
I might go through the classified on here, where else is good for Magazine.

Sorry for thread jacking! But I just to see a little more of this car, and here about steves plans, engine-wise
