I wanted to share this letter from 1961 and response from Dean Moon regarding films that he would loan out. Thought you guys might find it interesting. Are the films available online anywhere? Did anyone here ever receive or see any of Dean's films back then? Seems like they were pretty expensive.
I have a film ***led, "Dean Moon"....it has footage of the Moonliner streamliner being used in a Budweiser beer commercial. A private jet has landed on the Salt or El Mirage (I can't remember) and Tom Selleck gets out of the jet like he's some advertising agency big-shot. The Busweiser theme is playing in the background: "When You Say Bud, You've Said It All...." It's probably narrated by Ed McMahon. At the end of the commercial the Mooneyes streamliner completes it's "record breaking" run and out comes the parachute which is in the Budweiser logo. There's footage, also, of Craig Breedloves streamlined drag car and I can't remember what else. A friend of mine had this 16mm film many years ago. It's around here somewhere. Again, all it says on a masking tape label on the film can is "Dean Moon". Yes, I will get it transferred someday. No, I'm not going to do it today.
Kind of sounds like the right stuff but maybe 70's instead of 60's? I hope you'll let us know whenever you get around to having it transferred. I wonder how long Dean Moon kept his loan program going.
