Event Coverage Death Week 2023

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by squirrel, Sep 26, 2023.

  1. On a side-note :(:

  2. Been watching this on YouTube.
A bit more epic than other drag and drive events.
Cool to see you animated instead of a name and avatar here.
Nothing needs to be said about your car, So good!

  3. I had to do a double-take at the logo on the top of this show-card. The secret of their Pea Soup recipe must be that they hand split the peas one at a time!

Gave me memories of Neil Young’s album cover from the early 80’s. IMG_2207.jpeg

    Fab shot.

My mate and I were driving down that way about 10 years ago. As we passed the National Park sign he turned to me and said “I’ve not seen any of those big squirrels yet”!

Don't let the Sierra Club see that!

  9. Great stuff going on here. Hope the brake pedal issue comes out good for him. I suppose he is ok, did not see a post otherwise.

Spent many hours in the Mendenhall Museum in Buelton. He was a great oilman who knew how to enjoy cars …..

Why can't you just plug the laptop into the data port and write a new fuel map for the inject..... Oh, wait..nevermind.

    Have fun and be careful.

  17. I have been wondering about the tune with your blower. Did you have to mess with the idle mixture screws at all, or jetting?

The only thing I've done is adjust idle speed.

Made it through death valley, and into Las Vegas.

I noticed the car idling a bit slow and kind of rough at the end of the drive yesterday, but it was a long day, and I'm staying with friends in Vegas, so I didn't feel like messing with it. This morning they all went off to work, and I did some relaxing, then fired up the car, and it's not running real well. Just like it needs to get a little attention, nothing serious. I pulled a couple plugs, they look fine. I got out the timing light, and it seems to have backed off some. So I might look at the distributor, or I might just advance it a bit and see how it does. And when I get back to Phoenix I'll make sure to check it all out before racing Sunday morning. I'll see if I can pester my son and play with the car at his house. His work schedule is wonky, so that isn't as easy as it should be.

I binge watched those videos on my tv until about 4 this morning. Including a fun part with Jim in it.
My wife even got into watching them but was into the trip part more than the racing. She has been going to drag races with me since our third date at Little River drag strip in Texas in 1969 so racing isn't new to her.
They even hit one of our favorite spots in California but did Jim stop and see Marilyn when he went through town?

I have been a very lazy tourist on this trip. Some of the guys are stopping at 20 places every day. It's easier when you have 4 guys in a car all looking for adventures.

Seems like the mechanical advance has a bit more play in it, or something. Hopefully not the drive gear wearing. I'll probably just advance the timing and see how it does. I might also be able to score a spare distributor, just in case. But hopefully won't need to fix anything till I get home.

When we went to Pismo Beach for Trog in 2016 we stopped in Moro Bay on Sunday afternoon and ended up watching the Seahawk game with some fun people in a great craft beer bar. Marliyn was down the alley past the bar in front of a shop. And the rock that was mentioned in the video.
More California coast (Monterey to Moro Bay) photos in this album than most folks want to see California coast photos - Robert Davison (smugmug.com) My wife got bored with my stops to take surf photos on the way down on the week before Trog.
