    :::Update on my project:::

vw bus steering damper seems to have fixed my problem.

I also put pete and jakes short shocks and F1 shock mounts which helped the ride also.

Im still chasing down a few issues and trying to tighten everything up, i know my king pins are a little loose, theres still a little bit of flex in my steering box mount, and I have to redo my dropped tie rod, since Im not happy with the way it was done. works for now though. I also had the front tires balanced which might have helped a little too.

Im running suicide front end, 32 heavy axle, 40-48 rims/brakes. Model a spring

    Steering dampener is goooooone.

    Caster angle fixed.

    Death wobble.......eliminated.

Guess I shoulda built it right ther first time, but thats all part of learning I guess.

Before....bones mounted way low under the frame. Another side effect was reduced ground clearance.

Swapped them out for shorter earlier bones (new ones on the left)

Welded some tapered bungs into some sleeves and then through the framerail.

Difference is night and day, steers much better. Wobble is gone. Of course the "Old Fashion Split Wishbones" thread has me thinking I'll change it again some day, for now it is much better. Flows better with the framerail too I think. And I can clear a speed bump without cringing...

 Finally someone reports back with a caster change on a wobble car :)

Fidgiter; what was the old vs. new caster angle? I am sure a lot of us would like to know.

and yes those new bones look real good the way you set them up.

Looks better for sure. What degree caster were you at and what is the caster now?

I don't know before.....never measured it. It was probably close to 10

It's now somewhere around 6 degrees, as best I can measure.

Hey fellow HAMBers, ive been following this real closely due to my own death wobble

And with a bit of help from you lot and a bit from my fellow rodders over here, its gone :D

Pre caster was 8.9 degrees now reduced to the same as the vehicle stubs that i used, a mere 1.5 degrees and NO MORE DEATH WOBBLE :)

theres a few of us out there that have reduced their angles back down to around 4 or less and cured it :)

So a real big thanks from me :)
