Decator is a great swap....I came home with the most junk I've ever gotten at a swap, and nearly the least spent at one too. Anyone think a '38 Plymouth grill will make a cool "track" nose?
Anyone wanna keep their eyes peeled for some tri-power linkage for a 390? gotta fit Holley 2300's. Call me if you find some. -Eric 469-964-5930
It was a good day out there. The deals were flowing. That Model A coupe went for $4700 I think. It was an original driver. There were 3 Model T coupe bodies out there, with no doors or deck lids. I kept seeing 28-29 Sedan doors all over the place but they wanted $150 - $200 each for them. On my cheap-o list, I picked up two pairs of stock Merc Heads, and a pair of 16" Kelsey 40 spoke wire wheels, An entire 56 ford truck column with steering wheel, and a 39 top loader transmission that seems to be in super nice condition. Saw a rough but not gone 34 Ford Tudor sedan body sell for $500, and the farmer that sold it thought the buyer was nuts when he immediately said, "I'll take it." as he walked by. That was at 7:30 this morning when ice was still all over everything. It's hot out there now! Oh, also saw like 3 or 4 34 Ford truck pick-up cabs. One had the frame and grill shell going with it, too.
That Tudor was rough! Cut up roof, and I didn't see a drivers door anywhere. El Rod, did you have your A out there for sale? I wasn't sure when I saw it, but there was one with the same colors and in the same condition as yours. No THEM! Sticker on it, and it still had an A shell though. About twice the price of the one with green wheels... I picked up the above mentioned '38 Plymouth shell, a couple Buick drums, a couple boxes of old model parts, some '30-'31 A door skins, a '60s "gt racer" style side-view mirror, and a couple ammo boxes. Maybe I'll go back Sunday for the leftovers...
The guy had 4 of em, three of the same and a later one with a lot more fins. Wanted $40 per, got a pair for $65.
If anyone is going on sunday I hear there are two 36 3-windows chopped for sale #s for the would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Paul, I walked the entire swap meet at least 5 or 6 times and never saw two chopped '36 3 windows. There was a black primered '36 3-window that was unchopped and fairly nice...but it was $27,500. That's the only one I saw. I bought an Edelbrock C357 3x2 (SBC) intake with a pair of Rochesters on it, a vintage Sears Allstate "Swamp Cooler", a pair of '59-67 Corvette finned valve covers, a couple of Sportster peanut tanks, a stack of awesome old Hot Rod books...and a brand new but real and vintage, still in the package 1968 AHRA World Championship/ Isky Cams T-shirt, that was the event T-shirt for that meet at Green Valley Raceway here in Texas. There was lots of good stuff there this year...and lots of good deals to be had. It ****s that it started raining today though.
The other one was on the north end out by the road. It was 14,500. Kinda bluish gray, no interior but a complete car. If I would have had the money it would have been on my trailer heading North.
Oops...Guess I missed it! Oh and that $500 '34 Sedan was the deal of the weekend as far as I'm concerned. The roof was a little hacked up, but other than that and the missing driver's door it was straight and solid. Not rough at all in my eyes.
:NOTE: Never let B*** beat you to the meet. He bought all the cool **** I went out there for :shakingfist: May have to go back Sun for a bit.
Eric, There were 2 Tbird 3x2 set ups, and a Galaxie. One complete with linkage and tbird aircleaner for 1200 the other was 800. No linkage by itself that I saw, but I wasn't looking either.
I got there friday around 2pm, just missed a 32 ford truck cab, that was complete, included a rough 32 frame and a B banger all for $700, and the cab was near perfect. Bought a few small things, all in all a good swap I would have bought more if I wouldn't had to carry it so far. Did see several old 39 style 3 spds for the 40-50 range which I thought was good. That 34 sedan was a little rough. I got my new 39 coupe home from Austin, so that was my big thing for the weekend!!!
The deal of the weekend was definalty the 32 Truck Cab with doors and dash with a frame and motor for 700.00. I saw alot of good deals but only came home with some pretty cool Guide headlights for 35.00 some new filters for my three deuces and a 35 Spoke wheel in great shape for 10.00. P***ed up on a killer deal on a Super t10 4 speed with a shifter I could have got for 400.00. My pops made out like a bandit. Seats, Rims, Edelbrock Tunnel Ram for two Fours, Pulleys, wheel adapters, Visor,. There was also a pretty much all complete 32 Sedan for 2200.00 All in all it was a great meet. There were alot of Hambers that showed up. Sorry I missed you Trailer Ed-Rusty Friday. Got to see alot of others out there though. Rain came in and kindoff spoiled the late Saturday crowd. Cant wait till the next one though.
I found some goodies this weekend. 5 - 17" Ford wires sand blasted and primed Offenhauser 4bbl intake Baby Moon hubcaps for early Ford (40-48) wheels 1 Caddy sombrero 40-48 Ford Trans *FREE* 40 Ford horn ****on Some kind of old oil pressure gauge and some other little knick knacks.
Glad there were alot of good deals. I was at the South Gate from 5:30am to a little after 9 each morning. I was busy working the gate and other things I didn't get to shop much. I purchased a Cal-Custom Bare Foot Gas Petal, as a wall hanging, I had one in my youth. I just left there after plucking up 100's of the marker flags. Just FYI we sold out and had to start sticking people (vendors)coming in Friday and Saturday in any open spot we could find. We are talking about clearing out some trees and brush in CP and adding more spots RC
We went on Friday and it was crazy. First time we ever went. My buddy bought the red '23 Tbucket for his dad. My 10 year old son was going crazy and not wanting us to leave. Got pissed cause I wouldn't buy him someones (pretty cool) crazy airbrushed and pinstriped art for his room. I was whooped. That was a long ride back to Houston.
I had a family thing Sunday morning so I didn't get out there till a little after 3:30, there were still a few vendors, but they were all packing. Sundays in the past have been good, up to about noon, a few deals can be made right before they load up their stuff.
It was pretty cleared out on Sunday. We rode around the whole place and I picked up some bullets for my 51 F1 and some misc small tools. I eyed some stuff I wanted to get before it rained Saturday and the people had left so that kind of ****ed. I got a cool holly aluminum 4 barrel intake for my 390. Wanted a tri-power, but this will do for now. Dirty31 you are dead right on that 32 pickup for $700 being the deal of the swap. I thought that A with the green wheels was a hell of a deal to. That thing still had the headliner in it and everything. I was so jealous I did not get either of those. All of us just kept looking at each other and shaking our heads saying that would have been nice. Anyway we packed our stuff up Sunday and left about 1 or 2. Some people I was with sold 2 cars a 63 galaxy 500 and a 63 Rambler and a 55 pickup and I sold a couple small things and got some cool stuff for my F1. So overall we had a good weekend. It was a great swap I think except for the rain which seems like it never fails to do there.
Sunday was dead, nothing good in the left by the garbage can stuff either. I picked up a 58 Impala steering wheel Got a World Cl*** T-5 for $75 picked up another grill for the Commander from kustomcaraudio. I soaked my carpet driving home on Sat. I guess I need to fill some firewall holes or put on the hood. Quote from a hippie biker we were talking to. Hey Brother, It's all about driving them Brother, we're all brothers in this game brother.
I had to sit here for a few minutes and giggle about that . That was funny!!! Can ya' dig it brother!!!
