Technical Deciphering Coker Date Codes

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by spillaneswillys, Apr 25, 2024.

  1. I am looking at a set of Coker white wall tires and the numbers the owner sent to me make no sense. Any help is appreciated. These are the numbers MAA, OYWM, 069. Thanks Joe

069 is pre 2000 date coding using 3 digits. So are they June 1999, 1989, 1979 so on and so on.

After 2000 a 4 digit is use 1st two are week of the year and the last two are the year.

My mistake, some time in Feb (6th week not month). So they are even older by a few month’s.

That looks more like a manufacturer and plant code rather than the DOT code with the production date.
MAA (mfg). OYWM (plant) 069 (batch/run/shift proprietary #)
When I was working in the industry I had a book deciphering the codes except for the numerical.
See if he can furnish another number for you. It should have “DOT” molded in preceeding it.

Have him look on the other side of the tires, usually they put date codes on the "inside"
