Been trying to adjust the deck lid on my '52 Vicky parts car to fit tightly and not leak. But...there doesn't seem to be enough adjustment in the hinges. Anybody got a fix for this other than slotting the slots deeper?

I have the same problem on my 53. I got a set of hinges off ebay for $12 and I have media blasted them, re-set the hinge pivots and repainted them. I took my old ones off and carefully installed the "new" ones and the problem fit is still there. I can't seem to get the p***enger corner down enough to get the deck lid to fit flush and set against the seal. I will modify the old ones buy cutting and welding!!!! It looks like **** with the edge up.... I'll let you know how it turns out.

There is a section in the 52-54 Ford Shop Manual that covers the adjustment, one is the minor hinge adjustment that you have tried the other is a major(nothing special required) I wish I could copy and send it but no luck doing that.Check www.half.com and look for a shop manual they are worth every penny.I just checked on an auction I have on ebay and ran across this deal on a Manual they are usually $50 this is NEW for $24.99 ebay item #390061672834 Good Luck!

I've actually got that Exact shop manual. Just bought it at our Back to the 50's show here in St. Paul, MN as I'm getting our '53 Crestline back on the road. I can copy those adjustment pages for you, scan them into a .pdf and e-mail you the file if you would like.

    Let me know!

Thanks very much, Mark, but I scored two of them (one for each car?) on e(vil)Bay yesterday. I sure appreciate the offer, and I'm sure one of the other guys will take you up on it. / Eric
