How do you remove the inner structure of a deck lid or hood? On my Comet, I want to retain the skins to pin-on, but remove the inner supports and hinges.

I can't find any welds, only appears to be the skin wrapped around the edge of the supports and glue or silicone holding it together. I'd like to retain the edge if possible, just cut out the inside.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,

You could cut all around the inner shell, say at the radius where it goes to 90 degrees, with a cut off wheel. You'll have to cut any adheasive that is still holding the shell to the outer skin with a serrated kinfe or hack saw blade. The other option will require you to unfold the seam at the inner shell to outer skin, pry it up and dolly it to a 90 degree, remove the shell, and dolly the flange down. This would be alot of work, but would yield the cleanest option.
