Anyone able to tell me what body style my 47 is? Sent from my XT1710-02 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A bit more, I just looked at my Fisher body book and 47-2607 identifies it as a Streamliner (Fisher body style) with full width rear seat on 122" WB. The smaller 'A' body Torpedo was on 119"WB.. The body number plate is attached to left side of cowl as you look at car (P***enger side). That other tag identifies the serial number. 47 prefix identifies year of manufacture (1947); 26 identifies Pontiac Division of GM (Model 26 - 6 cylinder); and 07 identifies style (Dynamic sport coupe), an intermediate 'B' body (122" wheelbase). If the engine number has a H suffix, this may indicate a Hydramatic transmission? Eg. My 46 Olds engine # had a 'H' suffix indicating Hydramatic but nothing whatsoever on ID tags and frame number was different, and it's a numbers matching 1945 YOM production. Check the top of the driver's side front frame near bumper iron for a serial number, it might be a feint stamping? VIN reads C6MB3629:- C is manufacturing plant; 6 is engine cylinders; M is 1947; B is Streamliner; and 3629 is the sequential production number. (1001 to ****) with 1001 being the commencing number at each plant. This should match engine number according to Pontiac above referencing. I'm not sure if production and sequential numbers corresponded. Most bodies were manufactured at a Fisher Body plant close to or adjacent to the Pontiac ***embly plant. http://www.earlytimeschapter.org/1947.html https://books.google.com.au/books?id=m-k3ONS880cC&pg=PA120&dq=1947+Pontiac+trim&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjWx5jWvKDaAhVFEbwKHXrGDdgQ6AEIMzAC#v=onepage&q=1947 Pontiac trim&f=false
