Hope someone can help me out here. I have a 51 Pontiac and trying to decode the body tag.

    Style # 51-2569D means 51 delux 4 dr sedan

    Body # BK 2039 ??????

Trim 71 means delux dark gray body cloth dark and light grey side panels

    Paint 11 ??????

    What does BK 2039 mean?
    What color is 11?

    Thanks very much

BK denotes built at the Kansas City , Kansas plant. 2039 would have been the 2039th car of that style at that plant. A lot of good info on the pontiacsafari.com site.

  4. The Body number decodes more or less the same on all GM cars of this era, letter is the plant code, number is consecutive for that body style made at that plant. I think some don't have a letter code.

I had a '50 Chevy that the body number was like 49 or 47, it was made the first day or so of production for the model year.
