Folks Of Interest Dee Wescott 1927-2009

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Karl Wescott, Jan 29, 2009.

  1. I stopped by Wescott's shop once, just on a whim. I was surprised and delighted when Dee himself offered to give me a tour of the entire facility, including his stash of cherry, original bodies used for mold purposes. Amazing. I'm thankful for the opportunity to have met one of the "elder statesmen" in the industry-and a gentleman to boot!

Sorry to hear of Dee's p***ing . Knew him well . I bought the first '32 Ford Phaeton body he made in 1975 . The '32 Roadster I have today is the body he used for his first '32 Roadster body mold in 1972 . Attached is an image of an article that appeared in Aug. 1958 Hot Rod of the fibergl*** fenders he was stating to make at that time . A true legend and pioneer ........ R I P .......

Thank you Dee for showing me how to grow old. Nicest person I have ever met. Almost made a "Jeff Gordon" fan out of me. Sorry to all of the Wescott family for your loss. This world has lost a great person.

My condolences to the Wescott Family on your loss. Dee was one of people I looked forward to seeing at the Car shows and events when the company had a display there.
I value the few minutes at a time that I got to spend talking to him and having him show me the latest items that your company had out.

    Karl and Family,
So very sorry to hear of Dee's p***ing. I enjoyed stopping by the shop on the Road Tours and chatting with Dee. I was always greeted the same whether I was driving a Wescott bodied car or not. A great guy that formed a great company and was always proudest of his wonderful family. May the volunteer fire department siren run loud and long in his honor! Jerry

Very sorry to hear that Karl. My dad bought a couple 32 vickys from you a couple years ago. Your father was a innovator and a very talented man who will be missed by the whole car hobby. This is a sad day I wish you and your family all the best. Steve Gilligan

So sorry to hear about your Dads p***ing. I remember a few years ago he was one of Goodguys Hot Rod Hero's and got to chat with him a bit. He was so grounded and full of knowledge. We'll miss him.........

Karl , I'm sorry for your loss...
We met you on the first Cruise Oregon and just today we were talking of the first trip. It all came up because a friend bought a cheap '32 3 window body and he was asked who made it. His comment was " Not Wescots , But thats what I should of bought !! Live and Learn."
Dee will be missed by many I'm sure.
Your Family is in our prayers...

We also visited the shop a few years ago, when I was working in the northwest, and we were made to feel welcome. Your dad spoke with us as though we were close friends.

We were very impressed with the quality of your product line and the hospitality with which we were treated.

The Wescott line is the standard bearer for quality fiberglas bodies without a doubt. The rodding community will miss Dee.

Our condolences go out to your family.

Thanks for posting the sad news.

I first met Dee at the 1987 NSRA Nationals in Columbus Ohio.

I was interested in the new(at that time) 1939 Ford Convertable,,,Dee was very helpful and took time to explain my things that I was unaware of in looking at gl*** bodys,,,,HRP
