  1. Well at least it did for me.I don't even have a tag. This is what happens when you hit a 160 pound doe at 62 mph.Worst part was the hood flew up and couldn't see where I was going.I don't wish this on anyone. The lady at dispatch laughed when I told her the only one hurt was my hotrod. The deer was already dead.

If THAT is ugly ..And I agree,....I wonder what the DEER looked like.Sorry to see that happen to such a bad*** ride [IMG]

  5. [IMG] Sorry to see that man, really ****s...did you at least harvest some venison for dinner? [IMG] ...my father has instilled in me the value of anti-wasting things [IMG]

  6. The pics don't do it justice. When the hood flew up it bent the hinges into the firewall and creased the pillar in the middle of windshield and tore the cowl area next to hinge about 4 inches. Also the drivers side is pushed back about 1/2 inch into the door and ****ed up the latch and solenoids. The tire rubs in the wheelwell and the radiator was pushed back far enough to run the electric fan motor into the water pump and belts. Not gonna be a fun one to repair.

  7. Hey Buford there was nothing left. The deer never even twitched once we got out. When I hit it,the deer kept sliding in front of truck about 10 feet for about a 100 yards.DOA. The Officer asked if I wanted it,but it would have taken a shovel to load it.

  8. Yikes! Like they say...they dont make em like they used to....from the damage you did to that doe, if a newer car did that the ******* would probably be deemed totalled!

  9. Hell, I'm sorry man. I know the feeling and it sure ****s. Your insurance gonna' take care of it?

Well if there is a bright side, it's that it wasn't a moose.

"creased the pillar in the middle of windshield " = reason to chop the top

"tore the cowl area next to hinge about 4 inches. Also the drivers side is pushed back about 1/2 inch into the door and ****ed up the latch and solenoids." = time to section the body

"Not gonna be a fun one to repair" think about doing a wild custom and it wont be so dreadful repairing it.

160 pound doe, in Florida that would be a freak of nature, here a BIG one is 130 pounds.
My cousin hit a buck in West Virginia and almost totaled her 76 Regal - they will do some serious damage,at least you weren't hurt.

  14. doin that much damage you'd want to have taken out the whole herd!!! good luck gettin it fixed!!!

I feel for ya, Dan. I hit one here in the residentuals of Omaha, adjacent to a city park. I was only doing 40 mph. I killed it but it killed my old daily aerostar van too.
Maybe some 53 Buick headlights in your truck's future?

Man that ****S!!!!! I live a bit further south in Kenosha, but we have a ton of deer in our area too, I see at least one or two a week on my way to work...

Always worried about one of them jumping out infront of me at 5 AM......

Do you have any pics of the car "Pre-Deer" ?? I like the paint scheme, we are currently working on a 39 Pontiac for my girlfriend and she is kind of torn between flames or scallops...

    thanks

Definately. Though I do remember my uncle hitting a decent size buck in PA and it basically totaled an early 70's full size wagon. Glad you're OK. Sorry about the truck...

I hit ANOTHER one with my truck 3 weeks ago...messed up the front p***enger quarter panel, the grill/bumper, etc...
Of course, the LAST deer paid for me to get the flames....and this deer ****ed them up. I shoulda known. And the guy at the body shop "thinks" he can match the flames.....yeah....ok......

This was my 4th deer in 4 years....they're out to get me.

Haven't hit anything in several years but last summer I had to drive in reverse a couple hundred yards because a buffalo wanted to re-arrange my front end. Seems they don't like purple Chevelles. Actually he just wanted to make room for his herd to cross the road but it scaired the **** out of the kids in the car. Lucky for me there was no one behind me. Then later at Mammoth a big bull elk raked the hell out of a red Honda sports car parked next to me. Knocked off the mirror and dug some pretty bad trenches all down the side of the car.

In 67 a family friend was headed for a hunting lodge in Canada. They hit a moose running about 75 at night on a two lane. The two guys in the front seat saw the critter and ducked, the two in the back were slumped over asleep so no one was seriously hurt. It did however tear the front half of the roof off the new Ford Country Squire wagon they were driving and totaled the speed boat they were towing. Bullwinkle survived the hit with 4 broken legs and internal injuries but the local constable put him down. Shoulda seen the pictures! The wagon looked like a Monster truck victum.
Sorry about you truck, good luck fixin it up.

Two years ago last week, I felt yer pain. I was 1100 miles from my house when I hit the deer. Now you know why the primer on my front fenders doesn't exactly match what's on the doors. And I had just re-shot the primer a week earlier! INsurance paid for a chrome grille, though! (It was cheaper than finding a paintable one and painting it.)
