Technical define 'collasped piston'

    I know that the skirt diameter shrinks resulting in piston slap when cold. I also see deep vertical scratches in (mostly) one side of the skirts, and excessive ring gap. Photos of examples would be a big help.

    Pic's won't help you only a micrometer, measure the piston at the wrist pin c/l then the bottom of the skirt if it's smaller at the skirt the piston is collapsed

    Very good description 34toddster. The scratches are not good, show a sigh of being hot or lack of lube in the cylinder walls. At any rate the block should be re-bored to correct the problems
