I guess my car "fits" me, not defines me. I've been to 'Paso, Viva, PrimerNats and a whole lot of shows and events all up and down the State. You will probably never see my sedan in a magazine or in print, and truthfully I don't care. I built it, I drive it, it goes fast as hell and handles/stops good but it just doesn't "stand out" in a crowd. That's me.
Me ... Fairly carefree and in the wind when I can be ... I do not know if I define it ... or it defines me ... It is a part of me and has been for 30 years. I always knew I wanted a 32 Ford. I was satisfied with the roadster ( and still am ) for 25 years. Only recently has the need for a closed car of the 32 variety become necessary. But the 3W coupe will never replace the roadster in my heart. That's why my screen name is Deuce Roadster ...
I'm with Squablow. Too many cars with too many ideas and little time to get it all done! Yeah, that's me... I'm just a dad having fun with my kids doing cars.
Does this mean that if my car is a piece of ****,sooooooooo I must be a piece of ****??????????? OOOOOOOHHH God I'm a piece of ****.................... ****..........****......... Binga
I'm Crazy= 1974 AMC Gremlin hot rod with a evil 400+hp AMC 360. I'm a dreamer= 1960 Ford F100 I wanna bring back to life thats stuck in North Ala.its been in the family since new and was p***ed down to my grandfather ,from my great grandfather ,then to my dad who p***ed ay June of last year and its now mine.It sadly hasn't moved from its spot in a barn since 1994
I like too many types of cars to be 'defined' by a particular style....... Defining (LABELLING) yourself is limiting yourself...................
I would say "Yes" Old school and traditional. That's me inside and out; and what I practice every day in most of what I do.
well let me see.... I'm old, krusty, way different than anything around and far from being done. I can see a pattern here
Tough question, especially for someone young like me. I remember reading in an article not that long ago that said that there are hot rodders and there customizers, no middle grounders. I dont agree with this at all, i love the style of the late 40's and 50's, both customs and hot rods. I always try to have atleast one of each laying around, because it's a lot of fun going fast, but sometimes i just wanna lay back and cruiz down the boulevard with the chick sittin next to me on a bench seat. Thats just me though.
I'd have to say that my hot rod past even as far back as childhood has defined me in a way that is reflected in my car. I've had this 40 for 29 years and I've tweaked it to suit my personality and my memories of hot rodding in the 60's. Through raising 3 kids and one divorce I have managed to hold onto it and still make changes to this day. Am I done yet? Probably not. There's the hope of a fully dressed, multi carbed nailhead engine yet to be realized. Like "your ol Dad" Gray once said, "we are just care takers of these cars". Some of us make that a life long commitment while others like the variety of building and selling. We put our car together in a way that pleases us with what we believe to be the right stuff. If we really get it right, we may get to be a Doane Spencer deuce, or a Hirahata (sp?) Merc, but for me, even though I'll never have a magazine car or be a famous builder, in my little town here in Maryland, my car will always be known as Andy's 40 and that's pretty cool to me.....
