Brings to mind the time that my neighbor caught me as I was crawling from under my Dad's 3 year old Chevelle SW. The C- Clip had dropped, letting the axle shaft out.
He stands in front of me to announce that I should know How lucky I am,
to be able make my own repair. ( Yeah, two jobs I work everyday, 7 out of 7 ).
I just grinned and heading inside and wondered the best way to shed my stinking oiley pants.

….have a nasty job to do and you have a loose and worn out pair of jeans that you plan to sacrifice instead of ruining the washer with differential oil, brake fluid etc, but you don’t want to ruin a good belt either, so you zip tie a few belt loops together to hold your pants up as you work.

…when you spend your Anniversary walking around the Great American Race when it comes to a town near you. This year it went through Frankfort, KY on our anniversary, it was a fun night.

When you wear a T-shirt and someone asks, are you from Norman, Oklahoma? Then my wife’s sister thought I was a nice guy to wear a T-Shirt that said Norman, Oklahoma, since their family is originally from there. Score points with the remaining family!!!

    Hello,

T-shirts are in a class by themselves. The shirts that are cheaply made show a sagging neck, weak sleeves finishing techniques and soon, the low cost price reflects the unraveling of the sewing or assembly techniques of the shirt on sale.

So, far, the quality of the HAMB T-shirt was a good high neck and not sagging like some old hot rod t-shirts. We are beyond the old Penney’s high neck white t-shirt stage, so the high neck current t-shirts are the ones for me. The attire used to be white t-shirts for many years. During the summer, white T-shirts were the daily wear. But, now, the styles have changed and the color black is an all year around clothing appropriate item. Black hoodies, black jackets, black shorts and the myriad of black T-shirts.

My wardrobe is simple. Black shorts, dress up ones and every day 60s style shorts and of course, a nice black t-shirt. So, not just HAMB quality t-shirts, but one other company that always puzzles everyone is the Kustomrama shirt with the Long Beach Division printed on the back. That has caused some questions.
    upload_2025-9-8_3-54-3.png
Who in So Cal has a Mo-Kandemic Quarantine shirt? Ha! They do fit well and have a great neck, not stretched like a lot of T-shirts.
    upload_2025-9-8_3-54-48.png
We wash it inside out to preserve the larger color areas from cracking… a great conversation starter. It is the best T-shirt for conversation starters when someone notices it as we are visiting the coastal beach locations.

But, my efforts to get another one is stymied due to XL being sold out. Our granddaughter went through high school as the class to go all three years during the pandemic. We wanted to get one for her and one more XL for me. When my wife says, "that t-shirt looks great and is one of your best." Then I would like to get a couple of more of the same shirt.

So, is there a future reprint run of these pandemic shirts? And another run of the Jalopy Journal T-shirt?

    Note:
    upload_2025-9-8_3-55-36.png
This T-shirt causes the most looks recently. The old folks think I am a part of the old Jalopy Derby shows we all used to watch. The word Jalopy, still rings true… The younger adults think I am a crazy car nut who works on old cars… ha Some hobby that would be…YRMV

If you spot an old gas pump in front of someone's garage and think, "I wonder what he has in there?"

You’re a car guy when the city sends you a letter saying you need to clean up the junk in your yard and you can’t find it.

When your newest car is over 15 years old and your oldest car is 94 years old.... and they both run!

When you won't own a car newer than 2010 because of all the electronic BS

When half of the cars you own were built before the Korean War

You might be a car guy when LSD is mentioned and you’re thinking Limited Slip Diff while everyone else is thinking Lysergic acid diethylamide.
Wonder how many Hippies bought a car because it had LSD?

...when your "car show photos" folder on your computer has 38,000 pics, and you also have 25 or so photo albums from your film days while you don't even have 20 photos of family and friends.

  26. When you not only help but enjoy doing double duty lining up three different classes of vintage cars (getting them out of their pits and lined up in the correct starting position) then stand on the outside of the 4th turn getting hit with dirt, dust and marbles.

when my son and I went sprint car racing instead of his high school graduation. Mom was pissed. (I was racing when she married me, and my son started racing when he was 9, so she should have expected it. She got over it!)
He didn't go to his college graduation either because of a sprint car race!

  28. I had to go to my high school graduation both my mom and dad insisted plus I put in a lot of hard work to get there.

However, I did skip my Junior Prom to go to the races!

If you've ever considered installing a large window between your garage and living room.

  30. I've been taking some heat for this one... LOL.

Let's see... under our bed: a pair of aluminum heads, a '56 DeSoto door panel, a re-chromed '50 Merc instrument surround, and a '58 Edsel steering wheel. I had to cede the closet to SWMBO as she collects clothes and shoes. But there's another six '50-51 Merc surrounds stood upright and leaning between the corner and a chest of drawers. I threw a bathrobe over those to hide them... LOL The spare bedroom: Almost all of a FE motor except for the heads (bedroom) and block (even I'm not crazy enough to bring that greasy thing inside). Roughly 30 boxes with various new/NOS steering/brake/interior/exterior trim bits, three vintage steering wheels and misc new SBF bits that were too cheap not to buy. The small closet is full of all my car mags, a big bookcase with service/owners/parts manuals and the overflow from my record collection (and yes, some books). Plus four filing cabinets, a desk, a computer desk, three chairs, my spare pair of Bose 901 series 1 speakers (my outside storage isn't heated which is why these and a lot of these parts are inside), and two chest of drawers. One full of computer stuff, the other is more car parts... Even the living room didn't get away; there's a '60 Merc steering column and 1 1/2 of a '42 Ford car grill stashed behind the couch.

I have a MAJOR reorganization my shop facing me...

When I started seriously wrenching as a teen, it was quickly impressed on me with promised dire consequences that 'those' shoes DID NOT come in the house. But the clothes were also suspect. I had an old wool coat that was my 'under' coat (i.e. working under the car) that over time soaked up enough various fluids that it wasn't allowed in either. IIRC it was labeled dry-clean only. But this was an attached garage, and eventually the coat smell would creep into the house proper. My mother didn't want to wash it, but finally decided she couldn't take the odor and washed it while I was gone. After the third go through the washer, the only recognizable bit left was the zipper... I got a set of coveralls shortly after...
