Definitive S-10 Frame Swap Vehicle List

Nevermind.

 

I do not have any vehicle to add to your list but have been thinking of this for a 1950 Studebaker car. The wheel base and width matched up. Problem is the steering would stick out the front. What is the solution for that? I am thinking that 1941 Fords and earlier would have the same problem.

Been posted before, feel guilty posting same photo's again, but here's mine: 40 ford 1/2 ton pickup, 96 S10, bagged, getting back on this one soon.

 

I did a 51 Henry J with a 2WD s-10 blazer chassis. Perfect fit.... Had to lop off the front and rear frame horns 3" to get the roll pans past and removed the spare tire well from the J's floor but that was it had it bolted down in an afternoon. Simplest swap I've ever done. I'm looking for the pictures and will post as soon as I find them

I've never actually seen that before! I have a '50 F1, but I'd kill for a '40... especially one like yours!

I'm guessing 89 is when the 4.3's came out and GM moved some stuff around to make room for them.

The Gen 2 S10s (94+) had boxed frames as well.

THIS is the kind of thing you don't see very often online - real pics of the actual swap in progress. Lots of talk about that seam, but not many pics out there... especially ones like that!

i wrecked it earlier this month. it is a 51 chevy truck on s10 short bed frame. trashed the front clip. i will take some more pics of the new front frame that is going to get mated with this rear frame as progress is made.i can also take pics of the cab mounts as i make them.

 

Hell, post 'em, man!

Posts on the HAMB come up in searches ALL the time on Google, etc. Likely, you'd help a LOT of people.

just about the best thing that can happen to a s-10,become a parts donor for a real truck or car!

 

Here are the fixed cab mounts for my '51 Chevy pickup that I made. They sit 5 inches off the top of the frame rail. I know that's high, but I didn't want to hump the interior.

I am using the S10 because I drove one stock for 12 years so I'm familiar with them. Plus I like the narrower track width. I am very close to doing the swap so I will have to get back here to report on it with some pix.

And how about this guy Js51C ? First post on here and he's got these nice cab mounts to show.

The cab mounts are wicked - are they one-offs?

i have a friend who's using one under his 40 chevy sedan delivery (don't know which W/B though) right now, and it fit perfectly, plus the advantage of mini-truck accessories, dropped spindles, etc.

 

The mounts, as you can tell, are homemade. I'm pretty much done hanging the sheet metal. I have to finish welding up the running board mounts, but I have them all figured out (I think). I've had a blast playing MacGyver in my garage.

 

They look REALLY nice... You should post some pics of some other MacGuyver stuff you've done!

Thirty7slammed, very cool...Did you have any issues with the steering box intefering with the radiator support, or the front fender?

 

Found the pictures. 100" WB Blazer chassis and another of the "J" mounted the same afternoon

i have a 1988 s10 blazer frame with 4 wheel disc brakes. i want to put it under my 1954 bel air 2 door post. anyone ever done a s10 frame or subframe under a a 54 bel air????
