What do you guys use for degreaser to remove 60 years of cake on hard gunk. I use a home brew of kerosene and Dawn dish washing liquid that works okay but it’s still a lot... of work.

If you use the oven cleaner which is usually acid based be careful not to get it on anything aluminum it will stain it badly ( valve covers etc.),also after using it rinse with baking soda in a garden sprayer to neutralize it.

Simple Green. On heavy grease I use the concentrate straight up, don't mix with water.

After s****ing off the gooped up grease, I sometimes use a brush with K-!. Its not near as flammable as laquer thinner or gas that I have heard of people using. The K-1 is oil based, so it breaks down the oil based build up. Then use simple green or similar product after that to remove the oily residue.

I use Gasoline. Works everytime! Might not be the best thing for the body due to the benzene but what the hey.

Gas is great for soaking wheel bearings in. If you are using it for cleaning, make sure there are no smokers around. It just kinda makes me nervous thinking about the flash factor!

I use kerosene straight up. Works well, doesn't stink too bad and is easier on the skin than gasoline...safer, too, as it has a very high flash point. Geno's got the best idea, though...

I just use a putty blade to get the heavy off . I an going to try some Simple Green in my power washer to see how that works . After that gas , kero or anything that will work !
I use gas to soak engine bolts , push rods or anything I can get in a metal gallon can ! works real good too !

Another thing that you can do on caked on grease is m***age hand cleaner on to the part and let it sit overnight then scrub with a stiff brush spray it with Gunk foaming engine cleaner and fire up the pressure washer.
