Have some delamination at edge of windshield in two spots about 2 inches long and ¼ to 3/8 inches into windshield. Some is just above rubber molding and shows.

Has anyone ever repaired this issue? I looked for a wider molding but all seem to be the same on windshield side.
Custom cut windshield and would have hard time and $$$$$ to replace.
It has been there for years and has not spread. Have windshield out to do some bodywork.

Haven’t tried to get the old urethane off windshield but it’s on there good. Anyone know what solvent to use?

any solvent that is strong enough to remove cured urethane would attack the seal as well as wick right into the delamination probably making it spread faster. If your resetting it back in urethane the proper method is to leave a couple of mils(about the thickness of kids construction paper) on the gl***, urethane sticks best to itself. If you want to strip it completely use a single edge razor s****er and some non ammonia gl*** cleaner, but then you will defineatly have to reprime the gl***. I suppose if you wanted to keep it from spreading, they used to seal the edges of mirror with shellac to keep the water from attcking the edge. You could use catalysed clear and brush it on the edge, that would seal the edge and prevent moisture turning it milky and spreading.

What if you used the stuff that they fix rock chips with, between the gl***. It should seal it and maybe it would disappear.

Maybe a couple of drops of Superglue for the delamination.

I'm having a tuff time finding the windshield primer. Seems it's not the way to go anymore. Can you point me in the right direction to get primer that is black and will stick to the gl*** and bond to the setting agent?

I thought of that but how would I get between the 2 layers of gl***. Plus I believe that stuff sets up real fast.

Look up gl***man on the HAMB, I bet it's cheaper to have him make gl*** for your rod than you think.
