Technical Delco 1816400 dristributor application?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, May 30, 2014.

  1. hey guys, hitting dead end trying to ID a distributor.
currently its in a 6 cylinder (looks like a 235) in a 58 chevy but the P.O. is deceased and i dont know any specifics otherwise. i just want to make sure this is the proper unit.

it is equipped with vacuum advance which advances the distributor body not the points plate.

all of my resources have come up null, so i'm hoping someone out there can pull an application for this distributor.

Just checked the GM parts catalog and it shows 58-62 6 cyl all right. It doesn't break it down as per model as it is distributor charts.

huh, my old Chevy parts books show all the distributor numbers starting with 111. I guess I don't know how to look them up right or something.

I am a GM parts tech and using a Canadian catalog, the 1816400 does not appear in the 2.361 listing but only in the distributor chart breakdown.
It shows it with number 1112403.

Thats a 1962 cast iron delco distributor for a six cylinder. What do you need for it?? , i have a ton of them laying around, we rebuild this unit quite a bit and offer a built replacement with mallory dual points for $300 full mechanical and no vacuum needed....

  7. thanks for the replies.
My customer wants to install a pertronix unit and that distributor number doesn't come up in the pertronix database. they couldn't find it either.
