Trying to order the correct Pertronix for an International, apparently came with either distributor. Didn't see a tag or numbers, can you tell which?
Upon further investigation it may be a Holley distributor. Don't think it's a Delco. Confirmation if possible.
I'm looking in a NAPA visual catalog of electrical parts. The clear picture showing your points shows an oddball double-bent mount for the stationary point...most of the Prestolite points shown use this form of construction and, at a quick scan, none of the Delco or Holley points are made like that...see if you can read a # on it anywhere and I can see if that matches to a Prestoloite point set.
Thanks Bruce. Unfortunately it's at the fire station 20 miles away and I can't get over there today. This page made me think it's a Holley, it does have the plastic cover under the rotor but I didn't notice if the cap had male or female terminals. http://www.ihpartsamerica.com/forums/ignition-tech/642-ihc-vehicle-distributor-identification.html
Eyeball points, cap, and rotor, then go down to NAPA and demand the catalog ***led "NAPA Echlin buyers guide, ignition and electrical parts" which has pics of all the parts, OEM numbers, etc.
Looks like a Holley, the holleys have a cap with female ends where the Prestolite have male ends. Delcos where used mid 1960's and earlier, by 1968 they used Holleys and Prestolites. thats a nice looking 1968.
Thanks again for the replies. The plot thickens: I got another quick photo while I was doing an oil change, it's a Holley distributor, female poles, etc.. However, satisfied it was a Holley, I neglected to remove the cap for a better look. Got back home, three different Pertronix kits for the Holley, clockwise, ccw, plastic point plate..
Been on vacation. Finally got to pop the cap and get a look at the points. Forgot to turn the engine over but looking at the vacuum advance it's clockwise rotation, right? So that narrows is down to the top two options above. Of those, footnote 83 says "plastic sliding point plate", whatever that is. I don't see any plastic plates, so the top one (1841) appears to be the one I need. Concur? Bird man, had a look at the Binder site which shows the distributors but didn't see a breakdown of the Holleys. Thanks.
