I was just going through "64-65 Chevelle Drag Cars...Photo Thread". Out of seven pages of posts I counted approximately 80 posts where the pics aren't visible. Can't these posts be deleted? It'seems that the moderators could do that since they have the ability to move and delete posts when they find the need.

Now don't get all upset on me. I'm not trying to pile a mountainous job on the mods, but they do view the threads and it seems they could delete a few at a time. Maybe these don't affect the world wide web in any significant way, but it is aggravating as hell to go through these deadbeat posts.

Sometimes the members lose their subscriptions to their photo posting setup and the red X shows up. Many times the original posters then go with a different photo posting company and they go back and reactivate those photos.

There are downloadable patchs/files that corrects this problem. They were working for me and now I've tried looking at an affected thread through Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome and it doesn't work...and that ****s. Man I don't like that Photobucket. You are correct that the original poster can correct but some of these affected threads go back years.

You're right, Stogy, many go back many years and it doesn't appear that anyone is going to
revive those pics. I pull my photos off of cds that I store them on and I'm thankful that the
HAMB gives us the opportunity to post directly.

While I wouldn't go so far as to call them deadbeat posts, it is really sad that any images are lost at all. Why for instance, don't posted images become a permanent part of the HAMB record after they are uploaded the first time, regardless of where they are loaded from? Gary

If it wasn't impossible, at the very least it would have to be quite a chore to download and organize images from multiple off-site image hosting services and then upload them to the on-site Jalopy Journal servers. And then you'd still have to generate a new image link in the correct thread for each photo. Maybe some of the process could be automated but it still sounds like a daunting task.

Of course the members here could re-upload their own images to the JJ's servers and re-link them to the appropriate threads if they felt the pictures were important enough.

^ Not being computer savvy, all I know is that I load my pix from my computer and they stay were I posted them in the HAMB. That's why it sounds so easy to me. Gary
