Well all, as you most all know, Ive been deployed as a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Sill for the past year to conduct basic training. Well.....We did a memorial ceremony for veterans day (tuesday) at the post cemetary, and after that, our commander told us to start out-processing and to be clear of Ft. Sill by the end of the week(last friday). I sure will not miss it. Getting up at 0400 every morning and putting the privates to bed at 2100 (4am-9pm) just wears one out. Got some good experiences though. Watching the few scared of heights cry at the rappelling tower is always good. And running them through the gas chamber.....now thats a sight!!! My platoon got honor platoon every cycle (me and my other Drill Sergeant buddy work well together) for the three cycles we ran. Now Im home, and cause my company lost the contract I was employed under, Im also unemployed! I knew it was coming, just didnt know itd be so soon. Im actualy still on orders until Dec. 12th to finish out all my accrued leave, so I got a little time to find work. Now Im looking for a job, perferably something more permenant. If any of you know of any prospects for someone with a BS in Psychology, an Associates in Geography, 3 years as a restaurant manager(dont want to do that again, at least not for a restaurant) and the last three years as a Finincial Aid for a Federal Grant counselor, Id sure appreicate any leads. We(me and the Mrs.) both kind of want to move to a town with a college with a medical school. Its good to be back, but I cannot spend any money on car parts now till I find something! Go Figure! So, Im working with the parts that I have ammassed over the past year to do what work I can. I did hovever get the fuel tank in and most of the fuel lines ran. And after I clean more of the house, Ill probably concentrate on body work
Dirk, welcome back!! And thank you very much for your service. Two of the people I most admired in my life were drills. Unsung job especially in time of war.
