only original once! anyone can fix dents and paint over to look nice but do these guys REALLY enjoy there weapons of m*** destruction? just my 2 cents!
I stood in front of a dent for about ten minutes once. Didn't tell me a single story. Fix the dents and give it a coat of paint. Everyone knows its an old truck. Everyone knows it made it this far. Might as well make it a pretty gal instead of an ugly old hag.
I can come in ahead of Tman, Squirrel, Kirk, and Model T1, and add some new dents to make sure you're getting your money's worth on the repairs.
Now wait a minute, an old truck is like an old man, only has so many stories before they get boring as hell!
Dammit, they are getting close to hot rodding royalty in to help you. You spring for the airfares and I will supply the beer, and bbq.
WTF! Man, this whole "my (insert vehicle) has a story" seems like an excuse for not being able to do the work or have it done. Since when did having a ****ed up ride become cool? Did I miss that some where? We've got people leaving thier cars rusted out and calling it patina. It's RUST and it looks like ****. Same with dents. If dents were supposed to be cool, new cars would come with a high priced "dent" option. There would be shops asking you to pay for stratigicly placed dents. For extra, they'ed take a grinder and grind off your paint and let it rust. I know body work and paint are an expensive and timely process, but playing it off as "character" or "history" is just plain ********. If the vehicle doesn't have a RECORDED history, ducking out of fixing it up is ********. I have yet to hear someone say, "Man, I wish my car was all ****ed up. That would be so *****in'!" My T's body is white gelcoat and doesn't look bad, but I'm working towards painting it. I HATE that it's not painted NICE. I'll say it again. WHEN DID DRIVING AROUND IN A ****ED UP RIDE BECOME COOL? People have one of two options, when it comes to the look of thier ride. One, I'm going to do it one day or two, I'm saving to have it done. Leaving it ****ed up is just LAZY or poorly guided. Another thing, a dented, rusted up car is 2 moves away from being a ****ing rat rod.
Nothing wrong with Patina and wear as long as it's not your final destination. Fix it on the go and suprise everyone when one day it turns up shiney. (yellow hides dents)
Really, fix the dents or leave them??? Another one of these threads, traditional content threads dissapear pages back while the Stupid drama threads gain a page every hour???? GREAT, now i just brought it back up Where is the HAMB I joined???
I respect an old beat up pickup. I used to be of the opinion that a vehicle had earned them, a "badge of honor" of sorts, and I still believe that to an extent. There's just something honest about seeing worn spots, and accidental s****es. Hate me all you want for saying that, but, it's how I feel. I certainly prefer seeing a car with dents going down the highway over a pristine car rolling off a trailer. THAT BEING SAID: I have however, changed my opinion on what to do with them. I think since a vehicle has earned those "badges of honor" throughout years of faithful service, it has earned your respect to the extent of carefully removing them. My pickup has its' fair share of dents. I'll be working towards getting them out over time. I'll also be working hard to make sure it sees enough use to earn new dents, and when I do dent it, I'll know how to get those out too.
Add me to the fix it list. Patina is one thing but dents? I don't think so. Besides, those old trucks had real metal that works well with hammer and dolly!
If that was directed at me: Thanks! She'll haul 32 bales. No problem for the drivetrain, the rear springs just don't like that much.
Ok If it were completly ***embled with the dents no one would *****... They probablly wouldn't say " nice truck either " I like old beaters and can appriciate one... but a nice smooth shiny truck is better ... just sayin
I'm leaving the dents and dings in my '33 pickup build. The bed has many of those "stories" to tell. There's no way in hell I'd be able to get all the dents outta that poor thing, so I'll respect where it's been and preserve those stories. Bring it on, haters! lol. But the rust is all gone and it's getting paint.
I guarantee there's people out there saying it. I bet a google search would get results for "how to dent your ride". I even saw one of those garage shows on TV where they made a nice truck look "patina'd". Ugh!
