I've got a small '50's style single car garage and a 2nd project I'm starting on - just can't seem to fit 2 cars in my tiny garage... Looking for some garage+work space to rent in the Denver area. Curious if anyone in the area knows of, or has space to rent. Heated preferred as it's getting damn cold here quick. cheers Eric
Eric, I don't know if this will help you out but, I am planning a relocation to Colorado from California in the very near future (before Christmas) and i am negotiating on two different places right now. One is in Fort Collins and the other is in Pueblo. I know that they are on either side of Denver but i haven't decided which way to go. Maybe you can help me by telling me which city is better to live in overall and which is better as far as hot rods and shows go. Back to your problem, both places i am looking at have shops seperate from the house and are heated and airconditioned with phase 3 power and plenty of room...being that i only have one project going at the time. I will keep in touch and let you know when i am coming up and you are welcome to store your ride in my shop when i get there.
Eric, what part of Denver are you in? There's a place down south of Littleton along 85/Santa Fe Drive that rents garages out for a decent price. IIRC it's called Chatsfield Mini-Garages or something like that. About $.75 per sq ft per month. Hank
Pee-ebb-lo(gotta talk like a local!) will be dirt cheap to live as far as real estate, but you'll be two hours from everything that happens in Denver. if youre looking for a midsize desert town, go to pueblo. fort collins on the other hand, will probably be 15-20 degrees cooler than pueblo on most days. more precipitation up there, it's a green tree filled city in contrast to dry pueblo. it'll cost you more to live in fort collins, it's a popular growing city. fort collins will be much closer to the swap meets, shows, the car scene in general. if you build cars for a living, theres a lot more money in that part of the state than pueblo. pueblo feels like the southwest, fort collins feels like the midwest. pueblo is a lower middle class hispanic city, fort collins: white wannabe upper middle class. you'd be doing good to avoid colorado springs!
Yeah ! Another hot rodder ! You'll paint my cars for cheap right? I was in Ft.Collins yesterday, seems very nice. If I can help ,just let me know
I dont think you have much of a choice going. Ft collins i s much closer to civilization the Pueblo! Unless you like it slow and easy. boring not too mention theres atlest an hour or two to get to somewhere fun. Good luck and let us know if you need any more help.
Howdy Shortdog. I haven't spent a whole lot of time down Pueblo way, but it's a lot farther from "civilization" which may be what you're looking for. Pueblo is a good 2 hours from Denver by way of Colorado Springs (I am NOT a fan of the springs). I know some buddies who live up in the Fort. Other's have said it, it's a college town, but also pretty laid back and more "home-town" like than Denver. There is definitely easier access to car shows and swap meets living in the Fort compared to Pueblo. Thanks Shortdog! Let me know when you hit town. Cheers, Eric
Hey thanks guys, Ft. Collins was actually my first choice and you guys just summed it up for me. Sorry Doc, I didn't mean to steal your thread it just happened that way. Anyhow, seems like there is alot of nice Hambers in Colorado so i'll feel right at home. Like i said before guys as soon as i get up there and settled in, you guys are all invited to my house warming BBQ. I'll be sure to post it here on the HAMB. Thanks again, SHORTDOG
I too am planning a move to the great Rocky Mountain state (spring/summer-ish) and was wondering the same thing about work spaces. Hoping to find a house with some decent garage space, but if I can't I may be looking for something in the Southern Denver area. What does stuff run in your area Hank?
To me, it seems like houses in the Denver area are expensive no matter where you go. Check out www.denverpost.com; that'll give you a good idea of pricing.
