Hey guys, The local junk yard (Pull-and-Save in Denver) mostly has late model cars, but once and a while they get some interesting stuff. According to their web site they have a 59 Mercury Monterey and a 72 Caddie with a 500 engine (that engine might be cool in a rod!). Anyway, just thought I would p*** it along. I will probably head over there Friday and check it out.
I'm looking for a manual steering box and Pitman arm for a 59 Merc, if it has it. Also, I would like to find a metal speaker grille for the dash. PM me or re-post here if you find anything out. I also could use a decent right grille half, and the trim piece for the hood. Thanks. I think Rad**** was looking for a set of headlight doors and buckets, too. Check the cl***ifieds from earlier this week.
Hey Colorado51, could you check and see if the 59 Merc has both sets of headlites...I need the chrome and buckets...Thanks...If they have them, I'll drive up there Monday and get them.....
Rad****, Kommuter, I will check it out tomorrow and let you guys know. If the chrome parts are still there I might just pull them off and send them to you. That kind of stuff is grabbed up pretty fast at this junk yard.

[/ QUOTE ] haha, sure you will Rad! you've been saying that for as long as i've lived here! iffin you do, fart on your way thru town so i know you came.
Hey Ray...the wife says she needs to get out of the house...what better way then a 6.5 hour road trip....hehe Or maybe I need to get out......I was just up in Raton NM the other day......hell, 3 more hours I'd been there homie....I'll call if I do make it. I'll be up there once Zeke gets his wagon though....I have to do some straight axle recon
Rad****, There were a few people looking at the Merc, so I pulled the headlight buckets, the adjuster buckets, the headlight rings, and the chrome before anyone could get them. They charged me $10 for everything. Send me $10 plus shipping and I will send them out to you. Here is the run down on the Merc. Its a 4 door, the engine (2 bbl) and trans are there, the front suspension is still there, the rear end is gone. The interior is poor, but the steering column is still there, the center part on the dash is gone. All the chrome trim is there, the back window is perfect, the windshield has one pit, otherwise it is fine too. The front bumper and grill are perfect, the rear bumper had a few dings, the tail lights were busted. This is as of Friday afternoon, who knows what it will be like if you come up over the weekend.
Kommuter, I couldnt take any pics, they dont allow any cameras in the yard, and I didnt have the right tools to pull the pitman arm, sorry. The grill was there but it looks like its one piece(?) See my description to Rad**** about the rest on the car.
colorado51, Thanks for checking. Did you notice if it was power or manual steering? Power would have the big slave cyl tied to the drag link, right under the box. I would want the whole box, with the arm, but not the column. The grill is two pieces, but they are bolted together in the center. I would be interested in the right half and all the surrounding trim, if it's good. (I'd take the whole thing, if necessary, but it would be easier to ship in halves.) Should I contact the yard direct? Do they sell parts over the phone and ship them out? I can't see that I'd have a chance to road trip out. I appreciate you taking your time to p*** this on and check it out. (I would be interested in the headlight stuff too, if Rad**** changes his mind.)
WOW!..Thanks Colorado 51! I really owe ya..I'll send you a $20...E-mail your mailing address and I'll mail it out today...Thanks again......Neal
I am thinking it was a manual. I dont remember seeing the cyl or a PS pump on the motor. Try calling them about the grill ( http://www.pullnsave.com/ ) If they wont sent it, I may be able to head back out there next weekend and pull it myself
PS pump would be crank-mounted, so not too obvious. I'll give'em a shout, and see what happens. Thanks again.
