I was fortunate to have a local college here have a Hot Rod program with an amazing teacher Cris Boggess. The class touched on all the major sections: tig welding, sheet metal shaping, chassis, chopping a top, paint, etc. I noticed pretty quickly that I had a natural talent for sheet metal shaping. So that was the direction that I focused on first. Then branched out from there.

Most of my knowledge about 30's cars came from my good friend Steve Clark. He is a local hot rod guy here and has been collecting 30's fords since he was 16 (now 72 years old). His collection is insane, and his knowledge about every part is amazing. So he took me under his wing and even to this day is still showing me new things.

Not to take anything away from the obviously very talented Chris Davenport, but remember that most of the now iconic pioneers were young guys when they started "all this" too.

It makes me happy to see that there are young guys that get it,especially when they are that talented.

The truck is my fathers. I sold him the cab, bed, and frame from my earlier 32' pickup build. The cab is chopped 5" with only 3" taken through the rear window and 2" taken below the rear window. The only aspects that I had part in were the sheet metal, and I helped spray the paint once he had it ready. He built the frame, and I helped with some aspects there.

Here is a link to his build:

  7. Slick video! I never knew the cat who built that wicked Deuce Sedan was so young. Great talent for sure! And an eye for style!
