    Hey guys
I'm working out a new painting and wondered if you can tell me which of the three tail lights on each side should be lit up when the car is moving down the road.

I'm painting a night time scene.

These would be just tail lights, not break lights.

Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

    Jim

I think this applies to all '56-59 DeSotos, but I could be mistaken.

I'm certain this is so for '57-58.

The top and bottom bulbs are lit when the headlights are on. When brakes are applied or turn signals used, the bottom bulb is the only one that gets brighter. The center lens is for backup only.

The car in your picture is a '59.
