Actually spark plug wire covers on a Desoto Hemi. Does anyone have any trick ideas that they have used to paint the indented letters on the wire covers. Want to paint with a contrasting color to the valve covers.

I'm no paint expert or even close to one, but thinking if the wire covers are painted instead of chromed, it may be best to paint the lettering with a water based paint. Paint the lettering with a small brush, then wipe them even with a water wetted cloth wrapped tight over a piece of flat wood or something similar. Using a water based paint for the letters would help keep from compromising the oil base paint surrounding them when evening them up.

I fill a large metal syringe with paint and flow it into the recess and then carefully manipulate the piece and let gravity due the work. Have done dozens of parts this way and never had a problem running over the recess. Just have to be careful. Bought syringe on Ebay for 5 or $10 syringe.jpg syringe.jpg syringe.jpg

PS sometimes you have to help it flow a bit with a tooth pick or brush

Paint the background color and let it get good and dry. Paint in the indented letters with a brush. Wrap a rag tight around your finger, dampen it with Varsol or paint thinner and carefully wipe away any excess from around the letters.
