When I was really little my brothers would boil hot dogs and feed me the water. They called it 'hot dog soup'. True story....

I’m also one who takes great delight in doing the old double tap reporting zap to spam posts sometimes only a moment after they appear on the page.

I’m also quite fond of Spam and eggs.
Thick sliced Spam fried to a nice crispy outer crust is yummy for breakfast or brunch.

I think you have to wait about 15 seconds after you post the report the first time before you can post the second to delete the spam. There's a lot of times I wait and find out someone else reported it too so it's already gone before I get to it. Someone else deserves a little credit for getting rid of the ads so, Thanks to everyone else who participates.

I was golfing the Palmer course at Turtle Bay on Oahu a few years back and at the turn all they had prepared to grab and go was cold spam sandwiches. I guess it some sort of local delicacy but I found it to be quite disgusting and worthy of only one bite before I fed the remainder to the Nenes. I view the internet spam in the same light.

Yea it's fun and you are right zap it once and you have to wait 15 seconds before you can do another. I Get quite a few because I'm online when most of the members in the USA are sleeping.

Question, if you double tap it does the spam report still go to the mods so the poster can be banned?

  15. At least you're not trying to order female enhancement pills like my cousin, Earl.

I don't know if this counts, but back when I was a young, single dude going to the dance club on weekends, I always slipped a 9" summer sausage in my front pants pocket. It seemed like I didn't get turned down as often as my buddies.

There was a Calvin and Hobbes strip where they were camping on an island, and they were discussing that starvation was a good alternative to eating Spam.

Speaking of starving, when I was a kid, Mom went on a health food kick. Most of it was of questionable origins, and if she served it by candlelight, we knew we wouldn't like it. Sometimes we would get creative just to make it palatable. The bean sprouts were pretty good with half a bowl sugar on them, and tofu wasn't too bad if you used enough steak sauce on it, but Mom really outdid herself when she served bean loaf for dinner. If you think Spam is bad, this was even worse. Normally Dad would just tell us to shut up and eat it, but when he pushed it away and declared that he couldn't stomach the stuff, my brothers and I cheered, "Yay! Dad's on our side!!". We never let Mom live that one down.

You are confusing reporting with deleting.
You hitting the report button makes it easier for moderators (and editors) to find and delete the offence.
    Thank you

Yes I meant Report...thanks for reminding me...

Paul, when I do the second Spam report when I Refresh the homepage that Spam thread is Gone visually from the forum...it may not be deleted as you say but from our viewpoint the Thread is no longer there to report and again it is gone from the Thread Lineup...

I hit the report button whenever I see spam here.

Spammers do it because it works and most of it is automated so they won't even know it got deleted. So I don't worry about hurting their feelings :)

You're probably right but, if I report it twice and it disappears, it's gone. Since the moderators and editors are actually making them go away, I thank you. You guys probably would have thousands of kill stars under your names, huh? And there would have to be different colored stars for 100's, 1000's and so on. ;)

I'm not sure it works as I for one can't remember Ever buying anything that came to my attention in Spam or Popup advertising...so to me it's just plain annoying...I have clicked a link in them a couple times trying to hit the report button but generally they are websites selling stuff...not a virus per se...

I am doubting the claim that we are not deleting the spam message when we double tap. I do this as often as I encounter a spam msg. One of two things happen.....after the first delete, I go back for a second shot.....that either results in the spam msg disappearing or.....it has already been zapped by a fellow HAMBER......If it has been done by a moderator, that means at least one is always on duty and prioritizes spam msgs AND has perfect timing to sync with required delays.

Perhaps a single report, one not also reported by another HAMBER, may be encountered by a moderator and deleted. Given all those who have indicated they find this great sport, as I do, I think the members are getting the job done.....

And, I too love the idea of ‘kill” stars....

The second report click just hides the post from the public view , and sends it to a mod review list as I understand it. The mods do the actual deleting.

I believe the mods are active every hour of the day here so they may be removing the posts right after the 2nd report...and yes I too enjoy saying Sayonara...
