First time I think I've seen this one but reached the same conclusions. Just exactly right.
If I was going to build one for myself, that's the way I'd want it to turn out.
Not that it necessarily would.....

I've loved that one for a long time. What's not to love about a Nailhead in a roadster pickup?


Does anybody have any idea what wide five hubcaps these are?

Wow, I really like that RPU. It's the kind of little pickup that's ready to roll at a moment's notice with the flick of a key.

And as much as I think the term is overused it really is an 'honest' hotrod.

I would love to own such a car and I think a perfect stable mate would be Dave Wittenberg's '28. With those you'd have both sides of the show/go coin.

 

I have always dug Dave @Detonator Welles' RPU . . . Here's a few of my ****py snapshots of it at the 2009 Goodguys West Coast Nats in Pleasanton:

Old Ford steel wheels, 40 deluxe center rings, modern adapters, and caps from 30 wires.

 

Dave Welles has a great eye and is a good dude. If you happen to be on IG, look him up for more proof -

It's always been a favorite of mine too!

 

It's definitely a beautiful little pickup. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the 32 rpu with the crafty backseat built by @NealinCA. That one is on my list of favorites and the build thread was an eye opener.

 

cool RPU for sure. could only dream to have the patience & restraint to achieve something like that!
