Hey whats up with the registration for the ba*****t show. The tuners (gay) are kicking our nostalgic ***'s. I thought alot of you guys were registered. I hear space is limited, I am gonna be pissed if there is a **** load of rice burners there! This show was kick *** last year. Send in your chrismas loot and get your **** registered. No, I have no affiliation to this show other than I sent my $50 in. Here is the link for the pictures.

My Son and I were trying to get "LadyKiller" done for it, but the rockers and right front quarter patch are back ordered ( I can make the rockers but the quarter patch would just take to many hours ) then when we got it in the shop and lifted her up ,.... we had some serious floor and understructure issues, so do we just thrash and do a sub standard job ?,.... or take a little time and get her foundation fixed up right ?,...... I am not shure what I am going to do yet, but the clock is ticking and the finish line keeps getting farther away. what would you do ?

Oh yeah,... it is also going to be a lot less work to find another p***enger door and chop it to the car than to try to save the door on it. anybody got a p***. door and a good front & rear bumper for LK ?

Cool, you guys send in pictures? Looks like there are only 4 cars registered. Littleman registered the same time as me, and they did not post pictures of 'deaths door step' either but that may be cause it is in progress.

I don't know any other way than to thrash! Show some close ups of the damaged area on a thread and maybe someone will have and old way to fix it that does not require replacement. My dad is old school in his ways, as are many of his friends, and they never replace anything, they use what they have. May not be as nice as replacing the part, but it will add to the period correctness of the traditional theme. My two cents. Looks very cool on the picture and I for one would love to see it there.

Just can't get into the whole 'indoor show' thing. My car is meant ot be outside. Plus...$50 is money I can spend on parts!

When is the drop dead date?

I have a '46 Ford that's been sitting - - I mean "aging like a fine wine" - - in the garage for about a decade. All it really needs is gl***, lights, and dash guages installed to be functional - - it runs and drives.

I'd sell it but I'd lose my rear pretty badly I think... Everything below the skin is new and nice - - but traditional (dropped I-beam w/discs, parallel leafs, SBC/T350 etc.). Black prime, wide whites, none of that glitzy stuff...

Send in a pic and register, then finish it and who knows, maybe someone at the show will want to take it home!

I can agree with you to a point, but this is a major show that got some major press. So going is like 'spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and customs........' . This will be a once in a lifetime for me personally. Also, In the greatlakes region, sometimes we have to be indoors cause snow is about. My ride has no heat!

I'm all about 'spreadin the gospel' but the indoor show scene is just that....a scene. I built my car to drive and drive hard.
As for snow and no heat....the beater will hit the highway tomoroow morning for the 15 mile trip into work. Forcast says 1-3 tonite and another 1-3 tomorrow. It's a car and I can dress for the cold.

Yes its a car show, Yes it is inside,I had never been in one untill Detroit 05, and yes I am workin hard to make it again, Why , because of the people I got to meet, they were all freakin awsome !!!!!!! Yes I could drive up and not show anything, but how long has this autorama been around? A long time, it has a rich history as far as I am concerned that has something to do with hotrodding, and it was super kool to be apart of it. This year was the first time I have ever adventured out and its been a blast...I am looking forwards to seeing everyone I got to meet last year and meeting new hotrodders.....end of story........So lets not make this a argument about indoor/outdoor car shows....If you bring a car, I hope to meet you,and if you do not bring a car I hope to meet you just the same.......Its all about the cars!!!!!!!!!!!!! or atleast it is for me...........................Littleman

Littleman had a great time last year and I am sorry I missed it. If I go there and it is a greaser fashion show, I guess your words will ring true to me. What is your winter beater? I plan on making one in the future. I had a 41 Willys gl*** body for that purpose but it is gonna transform into a g***er this winter. I picked up another gl*** body, 33 Willys sedan delivery for future winter beater possiblities. Didn't buy either one, just traded junk for junk.

Oooh, I could see that one - just like a magazine from '58 I've got. Lemon yellow, nose down, 283 Chevy (probably with an auto, since it's a daily). Black steelies and homemade whitewall radials. Simple, spartan but unique and unrustable!

Post whatever your concept for the '33 delivery is in the "Fun Dailies in Salt Country" thread... please? That's exactly what I had in mind.

Met ya last year....your truck rocks and that coupe is the baddest ****er on the planet. There's no doubt Autorama is at the pinnacle of car show history. Which is another reason my newly built (this century) car doesn't need to be there. I'll be there with my wife and daughter and will meet as many people I can.

  15. I'll be flying up from Florida, it would be cheaper for me to register for a spot for $50, than to buy 3 days worth of daily tickets.

Am I going to get grief for showing up with a participant p*** and no car? I mean other than by GMBs.

  16. one of my buddys just sent his registration last week. he's got a 36 ford truck(think mexican ****** truck). the cabs still at the his brothers getting finished up, the frames not finish welded yet, plus the whole damn thing has to be put together. he's waiting on conformation from the auto-rama that he's been accepted. we're going to thrash and get it done. anyone know what the dates are for the auto-rama? he has never said.

.........I could be wrong, but I think you get your p***es when you show up WITH your vehicle?? Besides, "AutoramaBob" reads this forum so I wouldn't be bragging too much about trying to get over.......

.............not wishing any ill will on anyone. We were fortunate enough to enter our vehicle in the 2001 World of Wheels in Baltimore. This was a dream come true for me. My Dad started taking me to the WoW in Baltimore in the late 50's. I kept waiting and waiting for my membership information and finally picked it up the day we showed up to enter the show.
I just didn't want to see anyone's plans screwed up........(let me add that I had been told that all participants receive a plaque, when I walked up to receive ours, I could hardly see through the tears!) Yea, I know, ****in' indoor shows are for posers, but it was a big deal for me!!

If everyone had the same thoughts that indoor cars shows aren't worth their time/effort/etc of bringing their cars then there'd be no cool cars to view. I'd like to take this opportunity to THANK all those that have already made a committment to bring their cars to the Detroit Autorama in March. I'm really looking forward to seeing all your cars there up close and personal AND meeting the cool folks that built them cuz for me it's about the people too.

That is why I started this thread, the space is limited and the more trad cars the less new catalog tuner cars!

I drove my car down last year and it was well worth it. Had a great time and met a lot of great people. I won't be able to enter a car again this year (at least as I know of at this time) but I do plan on attending the show.

Well, I have been watching this post with intrest and I can't understand why there is a dislike for indoor car shows especially in the Winter in Detroit !, for most of us guys this has been the mid winter "bridge" for our "car fix" to make it to spring. The Detroit Autorama has it's own very unique energy and atmosphere that isn't at any other show I have been to. it's steepped rich in Hot Rod History. and the show itself is older then most of the folks on this board. The reason the Detroit Autorama came about in the first place was for the MHRA to be able to raise money to build a Drag Strip, how much more Traditional can you get?. On the show board committie there were a lot of guys that didn't want the Traditional cars in the show, but the cool minds prevailed and they were a big hit! The big names currently in Rodding as well as the great names of the past came out of the ba*****t with big grins on there faces really loving what they had just seen (and I ain't talking the tuners). Every publication that covered the Autorama ( just about all of them ) singled out the ba*****t and how cool the "traditional rods" were. So it's all up to the guy's and gal's with the cars. if you want to become part of true Hot Rod history heres your chance. But I know there are people coming in from all over the country to see the show but to see the Traditional rods in perticular.

I wish it wasn't so hard to drag a non-running car down there that needs to be "***embled" to look complete once in place...(I have no way to permanently mount the front sheetmetal-yet) or I'd drag the Merc down there to keep a space out of the Tuners hands... :)

...for the record, Stickylifter will have his Chevy down there to fill a void, he didn't show his last year, so that makes up for Donzi not being there this year...right?

I have a new goal thanks to Marc...have my heap mobile enough to make it to billetproof this year under it's own (reliable & safe) power...keep on me guys...I need the motivation.
