I would like to talk to those who have done this mod.
I am currently building a full fender Tudor and am researching my options for fuel tank placement.
I would like to talk to those who have done this modification.

I would rather the discussion be about this , and not any drama please.;)

I have looked into the saddle tanks..Im NOT going that route..please lets not go there.
I have looked into running a tank inside the car..Please lets not go here also.
and NO im not going to use the stock tank..I cant and dont want to get into that either

I know that Dagles offers a "kit" to run the 32 style tank on a model A frame, anyone use it? or others?

Negative Opinions on the looks, Im not asking for that either..please.

What im after is pictures of how this is done on a stock A frame, how well it went. and what modifications if any to make this work right. Any opinions on the "kit" from Dagels or any other sources would also be great, and how they attach to the stock A frame, and what the cost was for you to make this mod.
    Thanks:cool:

Don't know if this will help or not, but I bought a Duece fuel tank from a guy that decided to restore his tudor sedan instead of hot rodding it. Anyway, the guy he bought it from had a fuel tank mount made for the duece tank to fit the A frame. I got it in the deal and don't plan to use it and thought some pictures might help you out. Not sure how he planned to mount this because I don't have an A frame to mate it up to.

I just did it. The kit is over priced IMHO. I bought a pair of '32 rear frame cut offs on ebay and a vintique tank and frame covers. I made my own spreader bar since I wanted a beefy one to build a trailer hitch into.
The frame covers need to be widened about 1.5"s to meet the fenders. I just made it up as I went and it worked out fine. I also needed to build a small flange to weld into the body to hide the sending unit. But I've seen some that didn't.
Feel free to contact me for more info.

Ralph..that looks like the Dagels Deuce to model A frame set up..probably for a 30-31..because they say they wont weld up one for a 28-9 because of too many variables.
unless the previous owner did the work for a 28-9,,either way im resourceful enough to make it work if things work out.

Thanks I did see that one, but to fit a 28-29 took "considerable mods" unlike the 30-31 kit & for the $ just thought there may be a better idea.

Agree, there are better ways..I will probably not go "Kit" unless it lands in my lap cheap. (unlikely)
and even if it did..it would get modified im sure

Yep, I kept the rear spring 7"'s back from the rear end (or whatever the stock spec was for a '32). With coilovers I'm sure you could tuck it in more.

I built my own, Got a set of horns another guy cut off,
Bought a spreader bar and a tank from Speedway. bolted them all togeather and jacked and blocked them up until it looked good then tack welded it in place. pulled the fenders and body back off and then welded it solid. Looks alot like the one ralph posted. I still have not made the frame horn covers.

I have about 340.00 in it. (The tank that I used it a polt tank with a fibergl*** cover that TANKS makes)

We bought stub rails from Tanks inc. they were about $60/pr. http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/p...ategory_id=81/home_id=59/mode=prod/prd109.htm The frame horn covers were about $150/pr and the spreader bar was about $75. the tank we have is a 14.5 gallon tank & it was about $400. So that is just under $700.00. Usable used deuce stuff up here is non existent so we had to buy new repop stuff.

Took maybe 12 hours to fab up the mounts & get it all installed. as you probably know when you build an "A" there are always 3 things that want to occupy the same space in any given area. Hope these pics help a bit. ignore the C clamp in the first pic, it is a temporary stop for the rumble lid. The rails are not on the same angle as a deuce, we did the same as yngrodder, we moved it around until it looked "right".

Thanks i saw the tanks for a bit less then $400..and was watching one on e-scam..i have some time to work this out and spread the cost..I think im sold on it. It will cost a bit more than my original idea, but it think its worth it. And it looks right and possibly get some tumbs up from those in the traditional group

nice finishing touch for a coupe..and once the rail covers are on it i bet it flows really nice

  30. We did 3 or 4 of them when I worked at the shop. They were on Pete and Jake frames and a bit clunkier than what is pictured here. Buy the steel frame horn covers. I had one pair of fibergl*** covers in my hands and they were pure junk.
