so i have done a tech search and i dont seem to be able to find what all is involved in putting a deuce grill shell on a model-a, maybe someone has a link or would like to share how they did the swap, thanks.
Here I go again. IT'S FU*KING SPELLED DEUCE. D E U C E !!!! DEUCE. After 75 years lets get it right it's spelled DEUCE! D E U C E........Get it ? DEUCE DEUCE DEUCE!!!!!! _____________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid, "Your music not too loud, it just sucks and further more DEUCE is spelled DEUCE!"
I'm also spelling challenged ("special" in some educational terms). But give him a break, besides he's from BC "cAnAdA" which seems,at times, to be stuck on the English spelling. (note to British Isle Hambers, I realize the difference) I'm really trying to be tongue in cheek here as best I can. Down to business. I put a 32 Shell on my 31 Slant window sedan & it fit like it was from the factory. I used a 31 hood and radiator supports with just minor adjustments. My only modification was I used a 1956 Ford Car radiator with the top tank sliced to fit within the 32 shell. I've still got the Shell & Radiator but the car was stolen in 2003 in a transport trailer of mine. PM me if you'd like pic's of the radiator. Movin/on
It's okay I struggle with spelling douche sometimes which is amazing since I seem to come into contact with so many.
GrillE is spelled wrong too... I thought I saw a thread on this somewhere. Anyone help this guy out? What exactly is that you need help with? Longer hood (if using one), radiator, some mounts, longer radiator core supports, fenders, etc. Tell us more about what you have in mind.
yes thats the plan, i have a 31-5window and i also have a 28 roadster pick up i'd like to do the same to, both will have fenders, and full hoods, thanks
Fenders or fenderless? Using the stock A radiator? The hood will fit...headlamp bar will have to be bent out slightly...radiator splash apron will have to be modified. Might have to change the radiator support rod backet.
TECH ON PUTTING 1932 Shell on stock 1931 Ford with stock 1931 Radiator. 1) Remove Model A shell 2) Put 1932 Grill Shell on. 3) Drive! Either one will fit on a Model A radiator. Model A hood still works fine, too.
Thats better. Don't you just love it when it turns out better thah you thought? I received a speeding ticket in Pella once. Floored, you are running with the wrong crowd. __________________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid, "Your music not too loud, it just sucks!"
Here is a picture of my 31 Coupe, I have a Gary Portell radiator which is much like the 32, looks good and fits fine. Nothing to do but buy the radiator and put the shell on. I used 32 hood clamps and bought the stainless 32 brackets for the radiator and firewall for the center SS piece that holds the two hood pieces together.
No. That has never been done in the history of hotrodding. It's absolutely impossible. If the pieces don't come from a catalog manufactured to work together and fit together perfectly, then it can't be done. Dude this is hotrodding. Hotrodding involves creativity. Some things you just have to fabricate yourself. Jump out there and just try it. You will have to cut down a 32 grill shell since the good line of a 1928-29 is shorter than 30-31.
CoupeHEAD, You're right. That's what happens when when your fingers get ahead of your brain when you're typing. Never had a spell checker growing up. Never learned how to type, either. _____________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid,"Your music not too loud, it just sucks and deuce is spelled deuce!"
so its just the height of the 3 rads that are different, the width is pretty much the same? i'm sure there may be a little work to do to mount them, i have 30/31 rads and 28/29 rads but no 32 rads to compare, thanks for all the posts guys.
32 grille and shell, stock A hood sides and louvered top with stock A radiator: I'll be going the same route again when i rebuild the car.
Ouch! That sux (Bull's bash). You'd think that with all the English teachers into hot rodding I could have gotten one cool one when I was in school.
are we building cars here or learning to spell? if its all about the spelling than this should be the HASB..Not the HAMB..give it a break
Oops wrong thread, thought this was a tech thread but turns out to be some kind of Spelling Bee or irritable bowel syndrome session!!!
I didn't mean to hi-jack this thread, but . . . Here is the thread from my accident. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=275101 And the pics of the car, etc. http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k8...eck/?start=all I got hit head on and ended up taking a ride in an ambulance. I spent 5 days in the hospital and had emergency surgery. I wound up with a broken wrist, shattered knee cap and multiple lacerations that required stitches, etc. I've been out of work for 7 weeks now and just started walking without the aid of a walker or wheelchair a week ago. I've got a long road of PT ahead, but I'll get through and rebuild the car (as soon as the bastard ins. company pays up!). I'm thinking about using the smashed grill shell as garage art. Maybe having it painted with the Bull Bash logo my friends made up for my 30th birthday last year. Fitting eh? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=362576&d=1191853032
