Interesting column in the WSJ today on the fact that these economic times spawn new car designs. Photo shows a stock '32 three window "The 1932 Ford was a response both to the Depression and sinking sales of the aging Model A. The Deuce Coupe is still revered as a classic and is a favorite of hot rodders." The column goes on to cite progress on hybrids and electric cars.
Edsel Ford won out with ol' Henry---Chevrolet was enjoying the leading sales over Ford, so Edsel convinced his dad to bring out the more stylish 32 cars that could blow the Chev. cars away in sales, besides Edsel had been secretly developing a V8 motor of new design, so it would give the public a choice of the tried & true 4 banger, OR go with the NEW V8!!----As it turned out Ford was way behind in production with this new model, so the 1932 Ford was very late in introducing the deuce at end of year!!!----------------Don
