No problem, try this other option, this is the same clip,. lower res hosted on cardomain.com: the quality is not nearly as good, but it downloads fast and should cause no problem.

    PHOTOS

Unbeknownst to me, I was being photographed while I was filming. I just received a copy of the photos. They show me, getting down and dirty (litterally) :D doing what I like best: run and gun, working alone.

Remember how I was saying that after filming that day I was completely DEAD, sore as though I had been hit by a bus? This could be why: (try this for 6 hours straight).

Crouching all day, plus getting up, crouching down, getting up, crouching down, getting up, crouching down, getting up, crouching down, getting up, crouching down, getting up, crouching down...

    You get the idea...

here waiting for the moon coupe to take off, just instant before begin BLASTED by dry lake magic dust :D

Here checking out the sun glare situation... Not good... Oh by the way, this is my new camera, with my senheiser 416 shot gun mic mounted on it and my marshall monitor. I really like my tripod because, as you can see it will collapse DOWN... And I mean Wayyyy DOWN. Great for low angles of cars taking off...

Jeez, man... talk about a shotgun mic!

You could fend off more attackers with that thing than with a boom.

Hiya Ozzie! No, no swapmeet time for me. But let's talk about filming some footage at El Mirage with steadycam as soon as you are available. When are you back in town? Hope you had a nice vacation in Florida :D

  12. Her description of the new camera makes it OK for Tech Week in my book.

Now I think I'll go make a post asking what color I should paint my mailbox...

    UPDATES:

THE UPDATE TODAY IS THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE UPDATES UNTIL DEC 3RD :)

Sorry you guys, I did not know about "tech week" and the rules of not posting off topic until Dec 3rd. I guess I should read stickies and check the main board now and then... But so busy I usually just short cut right to the thread and post.

I surely meant no disrespect and plead temporary ignorance.

So see you all after the 3rd and good luck with the contest!!

    PS: Cocker rules!

    UPDATES

Greetings all of yous Hambers. After a short break we resume the saga :). It was for the best because BELIEVE ME I have been busy beyond description. Another week like this and I WILL have a breakdown. I was paiting all week-end from 7Am to 9PM nonstop. And I mean NON stop. Lunchbreak? Watszat? Lunch? Watszat X 2?

    But I have exciting news!!

1- NITRO MAGAZINE, France's prime hotrod magazine will do a full page write-up on the film. The editor loves nostalgic hotrods and seems extremely supportive of the project. He mentioned possibly doing an even bigger write up when the film is completed. :D I have come to find out that there is a small but hardcore community of hotrodders in that country.

2- WHEELS magazine, one of the main hotrod magazines in Sweeden publishde something about the film. Thanks to TwinH, fellow hamber who lives in Finland, I was alerted that a photo of the DOS is in their issue #12. I await to hear more details from him and when I do I'll post it here.

    ************AUDITIONS************

The auditions have officially started last night. We saw a first group, taped the auditions and snapped some photos (coming soon). I was amazed at the talent out there. Being in Los Angeles has been a great advantage for this film: I have an unlimited number of very talented actors at my fingertips and most of them really want to get a break, a chance to be seen. It was a real treat to see a bunch of young, good looking, all American guys dressed fifties style, rolled up vintage jeans, plad shirts, white T-shirt, boots, sitting around, waiting for their turn to audition. Boy oh boy it was real eye candy. The testosterometer was pegging in the red. :D I asked the young lady who was my Production Assistant yesterday if she was bored waiting for the auditions to be done. She said; "BORED??? Not a chance". Needless to say, her desk was overlooking the waiting room so I am sure she had plenty to look at and was kept quite entertained - if you know what I mean ;) :D.

So tonight, we do it all over again. One thing is for sure: I don't think I need to worry about finding talent. I gave the actors a chance to improv at the end of each audition and I was amazed on how they took the scene to the next level when I let them loose. The energy was amazing. It was a real treat for me who imagined the scene in my little head, to see it come to life with real people , real voices, and see it become reality.

    Amen.

End of 2008 maybe, or a bit later, it is hard to tell... It's like I tell my friends when they ask me: It will be done when it is done :D... I am eager to get it done and share it but you can't rush the process if you want to make it as good as you can. I hope to find the balance between rushing and becoming anal retentive  . Me, personally, I like to MOVE, if you know what I mean... So I don't drag my feet, ever.

    :DQUICK UPDATES

Day two of auditions went very well. I had time to dial in my lighting a bit better. I also brought in some props (an old ford rear axle, provided by Jim Miller), a tool box, wrenches... It really helped a lot. now my actor had something to do besides yacking :D . We did some behind the scenes filming for "the making of the Deuce Of Spades" documentary. Jim snapped quite a few photos, I should have them soon and will post some here.

Tonight we have ROUND THREE, one last night of auditions. I have brought yet MORE lights to try to improve my lighting even more. I am new at it and there's a steep learning curve... But I am starting to get the idea... The rest will come with practice.

Today I received an email copy of the WHEELS magazine page where my photo was published. It is a story about the Primer Nationals and since I was there, I guess I was captured on film.

In the same magazine article, you can see Matt, Tim and Rydell's cars (The WHEELERS) on the top photo, funny, cause all these cars are in my film too :D ... Is there any nostalgia hotrod left that is not in my film? If you know of one, I WANT IT, send it my way please. (Bottomless pit of needs and wants, here)

I bet you those guys dont even know that their car is in that magazine!!

    See for yourself:

    UPDATE #2

I may not have a chance to log on this week-end, so I wanted to let you guys know how the last 2 days of auditions went.

Tuesday I had a lot of help and a fairly low number of actors. So it was a breeze. We finished early. Lynn filmed some behind the scenes for the documentary, Jim snapped a lot of photos and I even had a production assistant. Boy did I feel important  (no, not really).

Wednesday was an interesting experience. The P.A that was scheduled to help never showed up. Jim's truck broke down on the freeway so he arrived 2 hours late. Meanwhile I had a huge amount of actors and was ALL ALONE to do everything (and I mean everything) .

Talk about having the DEER COUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHT look on my face:

instead of panicking, I just told myself: "Come on Faith you can do it! So then I was like: "BRING IT ON! I can handle it" I was very fortunate to be a do it yourself kinda girl. I had already set-up everything: The camera, monitor, mic, table and props, had done the blocking and marked the floor, and even had set-up a pretty elaborate lighting, consisting of 2 keylights this time, plus 1K of fill light. I had started at 3PM and got everything done myself and for some reason didn't wait for assistants to come in (supposedly) at 5:30PM to help me. I must have been inspired. BOY WAS I GLAD I DID IT MYSELF. This means that when 6PM came and assistants were no where in sight and actors started flocking in, I was ready to log them in and give them their sides (scenes) as they arrived. I made an emergency phone call to friend Jeff who hopped in his 47 plymouth and drove down from Simi to fly to the rescue. Thanks man! Meanwhile I was holding the trenches on my own for 2 hours and did just fine.

So by 10PM Wednesday we were done auditioning for 1950's hotrodder's parts. I am happy to report that I found a large amount of really good actors that have the right look and great chops. Looks like we are going to be A-OK...

All in all the auditioning process was a blast, the actors were a pleasure to work with, and we did not run into any disaster so I am happy. I will try to post some photos when Jim emails them to me.

have a great week-end and see you Monday.
