I'm not ashamed to admit that I was previously unaware that the cabriolet body style even existed. As always, the HAMB is a great education for younger guys like me that weren't "there." In the span of two pages, I went from complete ignorance to outright appreciation. I really dig the look of the more vertical fixed windshield, especially on full-fendered cars. Some truly stunning cars in this thread.
Cam, whats great about the cabriolet is that you can enjoy them a bit longer in the Midwest. I will have to admit the top has only been on a few dozen time in the 25 years I have owned it. When it was up it was great and got caught in a few bad storms and would have been soaked to the bone. The heat and extra room make it comfortable for long drives as well.. It does have a bit more room then the 32 roadster with the back top tray removed . The cabriolet has the longest door then any other model so its a bit easier to get in for some folks. It’s very refreshing to see Youth as we say in Chicago in the traditional hot rod hobby.
The top tray behind my seat has been shortened a few inches and the top still fits nicely behind the seat. The seat is back about 3” from stock. I plan on installing a seat slider to give me more room when the top is up. The rear bow on my top is slightly chopped - which gives it a better profile than stock. I’d like to chop the top and lean the posts - which I may never get around to. But it would finish off this car nicely. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
If this was my car I would pat myself on the back and say "job well done". I wouldn't change a thing. The fact that you still have the cowl vent makes it look traditional, to me. Nice car!
Bob, the cabriolet has 8 inches more room with the package tray removed. So from the rear door post on the cabriolet to the top mounting weather strip sail panel its 22 inches. My seat doesn’t go all the way back and its 38 inches from the dashboard. On my cab the top rest on the back of the top of the seat. It covers half of it so its not noticeable that its removed and seat can go back another 4 inches Agshelby, your cabriolet is stunning and I wouldn’t change a thing. I know the first time I seen it was at the first eyeball reunion in 2006 . It had a crowd around it all day long and studied it when I could get close to it. I am sure you still have the crowds around it with so many details on the car.. I do like the shortened rear bow and may do that to mine when I put a new top on as my I believe is original and has some wear to it now... QUOTE="The37Kid, post: 13313198, member: 2535"] Nice car, and a good photo, is there more cabin room in a Cabriolet than a 5Window Coupe? Bob[/QUOTE]
