Deuce update.... gettin real close to kompletion !!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rat bastad, Dec 11, 2005.

  1. Well Ive been drivin' the Deuce and after a little dialling in timing and front end wise, I have to say its everything I expected and more.

Starts up every time on the first crank, great oil pressure, goes well (turns the tires HARD with a single 97 on it haha), sounds nasty, doesnt run too hot (180-195) for a fresh engine and rides OK.

List of things to do? New rear spring to raise the rear end a tad, check the advance curve in the Mallory and total timing in the adv plate, bolt the PM7 on with the dual 97's, and some killer pinstriping !!

After the blower is polished, it will go on along with 2 Stomberg WW carbs that Ive rebuilt. I really want to hit the track with this thing for some nostalgia action down the road.

Its off for inspection in a coupla days so wish me luck !!

Weve got a display of Flathead powered rides happennin at the Vic Hot Rod Show along with Devilrod, Flatoz and The Psycho man himself.

    Here are some fresh pix.....

I don't think you need to worry about your upcoming inspection, it's better than most of the new ones!

  9. Looks awesome Frank..... I'm suitably impressed (read not parking mine next to yours ever!!! Makes mine look old and tired!!!) ...'ceptin for them funny things over the tyres, which by the way have a habbit of working their way loose so you might wanna keep an eye on 'em :D :D

  10. Hey, I gotta live vicariously thru others at the moment (and for the forseeable future too!) but even that has it's limits!!! Not having a garage is a killer!! Only two more months to go....

Lookin' forward to seeing it. Hot rod show display with you guys is a great idea. Would love to be able to join in next year.

Ever since first seeing pictures of this coupe, I've considered it as being one of the nicest cars on the HAMB.

It's neat that it's all in one piece, that it's on the road, and that you know how lucky you are.

You didn't ask, but I'd be subtle with the striping, so the lines of the car still do the talking.

I had to go back and look! Dam, you can`t even see the fenders at first. Very SPOT ON!

  28. Thanx for the input guys its much appreciated. There'll be further updates as the development continues...s l o w l y !!

    Just as a side note......

I just had my Mallory dissy spun up on the Sun machine - what a POS. Total advance topped out at 32 deg WTF? I had read before that some of these Mallory distributors had Chevy advance curves in em and I got suss when I got pinging even under light load with 98 octane fuel.

So dropped it off this morning, spun it up on the machine and WAYYY too much total....

Will be backing it off to 16-18 deg in the dissy and 4-6 intial for a total of 22-24 deg. Then when I add the blower, I'll be able to dump 1 deg per psi of boost (which will dump around 8 deg) thereby dropping my total to around 14-16 hopefully preventing detonation.

FYI its a DP Mallory P# 2527501...so just be aware guys.

    Cheers....

    Rat
