When my grandpa died, my grandma said I could have all the car parts in the garage. Most of it was generators and stuff he tore off v8s for racing. There was some pretty cool stuff in there and I had to wait 15 years for my uncle to move his stuff out so I could get to it.
I found this little tailpiece from a dragster in there. My gramps owned U.S. Speedsport and **** Dean would come by and build the aluminum bodies while gramps built the ch***is.
So here it is. The last remaining collaboration between my gramps and **** Dean. Found!!

I agree. My dad told me **** Dean built it. I couldn't believe it. Then he showed me a U.S. Speedsport ad that said "aluminum bodies by **** Dean".
    Wowee! It is awesome.
I also found a new set of airheart disk brakes with early ford adapter flame cut by gramps.
Those WILL go on something someday.

I also got the U.S. Speedsport drillpress with the stand welded up in the shop. I had to replace the motor, but if I ever have to spend thousands to fix anything else, I'll do it.

It's going on the wall in the house. My original plan was to sand off the filler and clearcoat it, but now I'm thinking I should just clear over the filler and display it "as found".
    What say you?

    As found!!
You can clean it up if you ever want to build something around it.

Cool piece, but it won't be outside and doesn't need clearcoat protection. IMHO, as soon as you clearcoat genuine old paint/patina, you'll totally ruin it. It becomes "new" and looks like someone just worked up phony patina like that Gas Monkey Garage glossed up Olds.

    ^^^^^ x2.

Oh, yeah; don't touch that thing. Especially don't sand any filler off of it.

I mostly wanted the clear so it would be easier to dust[emoji4], but it's probably best to leave it alone.
