Any folks out there can give some history of the chassis builds of Dick Williams in the 1950s I know of the famous Oakland Show car 1927 Roadster that Blackie Gejeian clamed the first tube chassis show car. Was there any other builds by him? Some history of the man himself would also be very helpful. Thank you Skip
Mark @Royalshifter Skipper - Other than the 1953 AMBR '27 T Roadster (with the 2 1/2" chrome-moly steel tube chassis documented in my "Bringing the Dick Williams '27 Roadster Back to 1953" thread), I'm not aware of any other tube chassis cars that Dick Williams (of Berkeley, CA ... not Poli-Form Fiberglass Dick Williams of Santa Cruz, CA) may have built or fabricated in the 1950s. - Todd @HEMI32 Olson
He seems to have been a chassis builder from me seeing the article of his roadster possibly race cars?
@Royalshifter - I don't think so . . . I believe he was just 18 or 19 years old when he started building the '53 AMBR. Dick Falk (the owner of the '53 AMBR in the '70s) knew Dick Williams well (cuz he dated Falk's sister) . . . Dick is still alive (he & his wife June still live here in the Bay Area) . . . I'll try to contact Mr. Falk to see if Williams built other tube chassis (street or racing) cars . . . stay tuned! - @HEMI32
This thread reminded me of some photos 'Farmer' posted 15+ years ago. These were taken at Bonneville in 1951 will try and find the thread. 1951 Williams T before AMBR win, much of the key elements are there, does not have the Kinmont brakes yet.
@Jimmy B - I included those same three (3) photos from the 1951 Bonneville Nats in my thread ... giving credit to @Farmer's "Vintage Hotrod pics....you asked for more so here you go! Enjoy-" thread. - @HEMI32
I don't keep track who posts what where, just where I seen them posted first, as in this case Thank you for the link
