1955 std bore 331. Just got the crank back from Velascos yesterday(also std),& ol Henry gave it a clean bill of health for running Nitro. Pluggin along slow but sure.
Slow is good. it might just keep me from getting hit with pieces of hemi at MOKAN someday. Who's blower drive?
Thats a standard 6/71 that was remaned for a diesel. It needs to come apart & be re-timed,clearanced,etc. The good news is that it WONT BE POLISHED ! ! !
Not polished is good. I hate the glitzy ****, its even worse on a race car. You shovin' it in a rail? or . . . *(sorry I missed your project info, and love the hell out of askin stupid questions).
Motor started out as a poly block. My dad ditched the heads,& put the 331 heads on it. It had a de-stroked crankshaft & was exactley 299 cubic inches,,,,on Fuel.
Wow, a real, live, race car. My eyes are watering from the nitro fumes already. A car with which to have FUN!!! Pleeeease keep us posted on the progress.
This is what we intend to do with the car. No burnouts,or 1/4 mile runs,,,,period. And yes,,it'll make your eyes water with joy. www.cacklefest.com
