. . . at the A&W friday night ? I was standing right there eating my chicken sandwich and actually watched it happen . The best part is that it happened about 9 feet away from my car ! I thought for sure they wer ejust going to keep going and take mine with it ( which BTW was right behind Snacky's Rivi ) . Some kid in a 57 / 59 ish white ford , gold scalops . . . 10 MPH tag to the back of a nice little roadster with a tall folding top . Just curious if anyone knew the people involved and or if the guy in the roadster , or his car were okay . The kid who hit him messed up his radiator pretty bad , lots of steam & water .

That ****s. So is it better or worse to get tagged by a fellow hot rodder? I got rear ended on my Yamaha once by this dude in a tie on a cruiser that was way too big for him. I was ok, had my hand on the brake. He immediately fell over and dropped the bike. Still cracks me up everytime I think about it 10 years later. Of course I sustained no damage...

yeah mike it was an edsel....that dude and his buddies were pretty hammered when they left a&w that night. i knew it was gonna happen ...all night during the cruise they would get into their parked cars and rev their tired smoking motors . then when they filled the parking lot with smoke they would get out and drink more beer....the model a had trailer hitch that saved it.....i think it was someone's father in law on the board in the a......i saw ya cruisin' but didnt get a chance to say hey.was good to see ya back there again......seemed like paso back in the day..

I was right there with =mike= when it happened...cl***ic scenario of a guy minding his own business, having a good time, having a crimp put in his weekend from some dumphuc drunk kid (whom I'm told had an unvalid DL) way out of his element. Unlinke anywhere else, the cops were literally on the scene just seconds after it happened. I felt pretty bad for the roadster owner; no pitty for Edsel fool.

Did feel like old times though [IMG] Rob That kid looked pretty ****ed up , I wonder if he got arrested DUI or if they just let him go along his way ?

    The skinny on the accidient...
As stated before we were going maybe 5 to 10 mph. The edsel popped my fath-in-laws (Aisel7) model A on the trailer hitch. This was good and bad. The good, it sent most of the energy to the frame and not the body, the bad, hitting the frame shakes the **** out of the guys in the car. Ron and Mike were pretty sore after the knock, we got some food in us after that and got some rest. Everyone was fairly ok the next morning, maybe a bit stiff. Let's see Ron put it like this "I feel like I'm walking like John Wayne with a stcik up his ***".

The guy in the edsel, popped his radiator and bent the F@$@#% out of his bumper. He was driving without a valid license. The cops did not arrest him or even question wether or not he was drinking (someone said something about drinking earlier, I don't know). They let him go with a ticket for driving without his license.

To the guys credit he came right up to Mike and immediately began appologizing and telling him he will fix all of the damages. Mike told him he would check it out and get back to him, but he would handle the repairs. I think they pretty much agreed this was something they would take care of between them and not the insurance companies. The kid seemed very sincere and Mike got his info. Besides for a couple of small dents in the left rear of the trunk lid there wasn't much obvious damage to the Model A. I haven't talked to Mike to find out if he's got it up in the air to figure out if there is any damage to the frame yet or not, as I said early it took most of the shock.

For the most part, this is pretty cool hot rod stuff. It ****s that the accident occurred, but it was an accident. We were all there to have fun and we continued to do so. Luckily noone got seriously hurt and the whole thing is mostly being settled between the two involved. And thats the rest of the story...

Well, I guess he had no choice, what with the cops and a zillion spectators on hand. Nevertheless, he looked pretty faded, and I know the Paso Law isn't shy with the DUI.

To his credit? The guy was drunk and acting like a jack*** around other people's prized possessions. IMO he's lucky the cops showed up when they did, they probably saved those idiots from a serious ***whipping.

yeah i saw him ALMOST back into my buddies candy gold 64 rivi at A&W before they left and got onto spring street....no respect for anyone ....don't ya just love the youth of today ???????...oh wait i AM the youth of today.....

  19. Ohhhhh noooooo. I get all jittery when someone comes up and says "I'll take care of it, don't involve the cops/insurance".
It usually means yer gonna get ****ed.
If you are gonna let the kid off like that, get a load of CASH money up front quick (like yesterday) and tell him you'll pay HIM back what you don't need; otherwise I'd go straight to my insurance man.
    Voice of experience,
    Cosmo
P.S. I will NEVER let anyone off like that unless they have AT LEAST 150% of the damages IN CASH on them NOW.
    Yeah, I got ****ed. Once.
P.P.S. Let us all remember that it ain't over 'til it's over. And the 'A' isn't fixed yet, nor has the kid forked over any money. His word ain't worth a teas**** of sand until it's all done.

Donnie... since when are you a youth..?? hahaha..!!!!!

My Dad and I saw the accident too....
I don't think the guy was actually 'drunk'... maybe stoned or something...
but whatever... the cops let him go nonetheless.... and they
were definitely out to bust people...!!

we saw a crowd of people and a few cops swarm RIGHT after it happened...
in the mess of people and coolant, low light, etc,
I SWEAR it looked like that A got PACKED in...!!!
but after the crowds cleared, my Dad and I rolled up, and were
seriously AMAZED that there was no apparent damage to the A..!!!
it was like magic.... that heavy duty 2" square tubing tow hitch SERIOUSLY
saved that cars life... could you imagine..?? It was crazy to see
with my own two eyes... I still can barely believe it......
the bumper of the Edsel was VERY messed up, as was the grill and radiator....

an A 'beat up' an Edsel in a head-to-tail 'match'..!! Who woulda thunk..??

Glad no one was seriously hurt....

[/ QUOTE ].........................i agree....... i told some people about the accident and before i even mentioned the cars involved ...one guy said ,......."white edsel.... i knew that kid was gonna hit something hes been driving like a jack*** all night"....... seeing these "new comers" to the hobby/events and being disrespectful of other people and cars pisses me off they deserve a strong rap on the nose , they torch the springs on their 72 caddy put some flat black krylon on it and paso here they come......i wish the scenesters would all go away....

if any of you lowlifes find yourselves reading this you need to wise up!!!!!!! lot of the cars at events are from the blood and sweat from the owners ....some even have historical value ...people bring them for us to see not to be hit by some dumb **** trying to show off and fail miserably

Amen, Brutha. I see that **** all the time (in fact, there is a flat black '72 in my town). I hate to say, but I know kids who are like that. I stopped "socializing" with them because of it. They think to be cool they have to go around being disrespectful to everyone and apparently that's way more fun when you're drunk and/or stoned [IMG]
Too cool to give a ****..

my 56 was parked in that A&W parking lot friday night, and someone hit the drivers side quarter panel while it was parked. i have no idea who did it or if they were drinking, but it still ****s. left a 2 ft scratch and a dent about 1/8 inch deep. thats just what happens when there are that many people in such a small place, and most of them are drinking. but it would be nice if people would at least leave a note or something.
