I spent Saturday prepping my off topic daily for paint. Today I spend about 4 hours getting an ON topic tattoo on the lower half of my right leg. I'm not sure which one was more tiring. I may post pics of the tat, once it heals.

I worked on my '55 Dodge for a while, and today hung a door on my shop addition. The door I got is salvaged from a remodel of a 60's ranch house, it's got that midcentury modern look to it too. Almost a shame to put it where it went, but otherwise it was going in the dumpster.

Love the patio door frame (or whatever you want to call that.)

went and looked at very expensive bicycles in Palo Alto. you can't buy a road bike with a steel frame and regular cross pattern spokes any more... at least not at this shop. those bikes are like works of art, carbon fiber, titainium, tig welds you have to see to believe.... and the wheels and hubs. remember how your bike spokes used to attatch? well it ain't like that any more.

Man, I love Mid-Century Modern Architecture - Nice work, Royalshifter!

I started the weekend by recovering from a week spent in Las Vegas (for work).

Saturday morning I thrashed on the Galaxie to finally get the gears changed in it and found a bad axle bearing and U-joint while I was at it.
Replaced those and got it all back together with the new 3.70 gears. Time to have some fun, right!? I hit the road for 1-1/2 hr. drive to a shop party/open house. As soon as I got on the highway I noticed a vibration that seems like a U-joint problem. ....so I turn around and go back home, hop in my truck and go to the party.
(bad bearing - not 'sealed' anymore!)

I drove it some more last night and today, and it sure is fun with the new gears, but still need to check into the possible U-joint problem.

Today, I also learned why people use '35/'36 Ford driveshafts for Lakes-type headers and/or exhaust megaphones/pipes.
I took the torque tube off this rear end I had sitting around.

Hiboy32 will be cutting it in half to use for the exhaust on his '32.
    Very cool:

Painted all the house trim so I staple Christmas lights up in a very chilly 78 degree weather. Played Wii baseball with my boys (6 & 2) that beats a day workin on the car anyday. RS that looks good, is that an outside bar?

    looks good RS

I swapped the flywheel and clutch in the T (303 Olds/Lasalle)
for the third time in less than two weeks

the Shieffer aluminum pressure plate was warped and smoked the clutch (or visa versa)
so I pulled the aluminum flywheel, clutch and pressure plate
and put a stock steel flywheel, a new disc and new stock pressure plate in..
    it had a deffinate vibration.
so I had the aluminum flywheel resurfaced and put it back in with the new disc and pressure plate
    still vibration...
so I pulled it back apart and put the steel flywheel back on with another new disc and another new pressure plate.
    finally, nice and smooth
it was the first (new) stock long three finger pressure plate was out of ballance.

so that and 'took the grandkids to the local Christmas parade

I spend the weekend moving the last 5 or 6 loads of stuff from the shop I had rented since I moved here in July, to the 40 x 40 shop I built behind my house. It's all kinda piled in there right now. Now comes the fun part. Getting it all arranged so I can do something.

Cut out the old crossmember (upside down model A with a piece of 2X3 welded on it for a perch??). Totally jacked up and now gone. Welded back in a simple flat crossmember. Just mocked everything back up to get an idea of how it will look. Much better huh?

    Later,

We got LOTS done this weekend......it actually started last weekend when I got a buddy of mine to help move this phone booth from my basement to my living room  holy shit that $%&^er was heavy. I was a lot younger when I put that down there - plus going UP is way harder than going DOWN. We got it in place so we could carpet around it this weekend. :D Not entirely sure how it happened but the wife loves it.

Helped a couple friends put power steering on a Semi - I don't know didly about that stuff and they did all the bull work - I was merely moral support and comic relief - remind me to go easy on the chili before doing any heavy lifting.

Stopped by a buddy's shop and he gives me a killer vintage injector - I was (and still am) floored!!!! I was/am still speechless.

Pretty amazing weekend - actually got stuff done on the house, gave a buddy a helping hand - got a killer piece for one of the hot rods!!!!
