Seen alot of Chevy Nomads, but never a 62. An original 62 #'s matching 409 wagon would be worth alot of money to the right person. I would get it and sell it complete. If you find it's not an original 409 car, yank the motor and whatever else then sell it. Those old wagons are cool and if not a total piece **** someone will buy it.
I believe the 409 engine was available. As special order all the way to 65 at least I've seen one 65 with it's build sheet intact. with the 409. But not a wagon...ghost
Hallo! there are like 100 responmses here, and not one person could halp you weith this. thought wagon nuts were more common...not on here, I guess. OF COURSE there was the 2-dor, top of the line Bel Air trim levey Nomad. Then in 1958, when "Bel Air" was no longer the top of the line name (Impala was)...the Implala-level 4-door wagon used the name Nomad. IN 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961. NOt 1962. Not 1963. Not 1964, either. Maybe late 1960s again on the bigf boats...but who cares. Someone actually said, - well there is a 1969 using that name...sorry, but so what. It have nothing to do with the 1962 question. They always geot lazy and recycled model names again after taking them away for a few years, it seems. Love people who don't know about a subject, but will argue it! Actually - I think there was a secret factory off shore somewhere in 1962 and 1963 and 1963 MAKING 4-dr top of the line Nomad wagons, and El Caminos, too!) Kidding. There IS no 1962 Nomad. Not a rare, custom-order, it just was not made. It was badged in someone's garage (likely had the 409 added there, too!). Check into the #s and history of the car - engine MIGHT have been a special order. You could GEt anythin, almost...but not make up your own trim levels as a buyer back then! Good luck.
Here's my 60 Nomad. It's genuine. Nomad was the luxury interior version. Standard power steer and boosted brakes. Stationwagons above is on the money with his info.
This 58 Nomad belongs to a guy named Martin down here in NZ. Not sure if he is a Hamber. Cool car though.
you guys don't live near the pacific ocean like movin' on does? cars are rusted out, unless they are never driven and are stored in a garage......
Ya beat me to posting this. This is unreal find. Did ya see what else was hiding on that property. Worth reading
x2 I know a guy who has a 58 and a 59, for one of them he has the matching luggage set that came with the car.
Why revive an old *** post to continue to debate...I want to know what the hell happened to the wagon.
In 1966 I lived in Reno and had a friend with a white 62 Chevy Impala 2dr. It was a rare factory experimental model with the 409, 2x4 intake and 4 speed transmission. It also did not have a rear seat installed from the factory and was just sheet metal installed for panels. Fun and fast car but only got about 2 mpg. I also had a friend in high school that had a 54 Chevy with the same rear seating arrangement. It only had the 6 cylinder in it.
