I think the steelys are the way you want to go (see you've already come to that conclusion). Might consider painting them scallop color, instead of black. I think you want to paint the traction bars black, or loose them, they look out of place. If you intend on having stickers, have period correct stickers (50s era). I think the numbers either need to be a bit wider, or maybe be scalloped.

Unless you want to stay with the current theme, I would not cut those rear fenders. They would be hard to find for a Nash.

At any rate, I'd drive it! Gene

for you to ruin the car, you'd have to do something that can't be undone. if you don't like the wheels, take them off. problem solved. or you could do what my dad does and have 2-4 different sets of tires and wheels per car, and mix things up when you're in a different mood. the point is, when it comes right down to it, its your car. anybody who gives you crap for asking an innocent question, should be beat down with a poopnoodle! (i think that's my new favorite word!!)

    • I like Indians
    • I love that Nash tub in the dirt
    • I like the steel wheels better than the mags
    • It looks like you're having fun with your car
    • The truck is cool
    • Is that your Ranchero?

For whatever reasons your Nash bothers some people. It seems like you're setting these people up to bash on it with thread titles like this.

  3. Scalloped numbers sounds good. I wouldn't cut the fenders.

i think this sums it up great.
just cus your 19 doesnt mean you couldnt of took more time and laid the scallops out the right way, and made sure they were straight or even and matching. you said "it took 20 min" like you were proud of how fast it was, but it still looks shitty. how long it took isnt what its all about , its how it looks and about how you can take pride in something looking nice, and knowing you did your best.

if i was calling my garage a speed shop on myspace and on here id atleast try and put some pride in the looks of my cars.....

but what the fuck do i know, i dont own a speed shop.:D

I gotta agree with this, I can never understand why someone does a "quick" job, and "throws" parts on, then asks for opinions? If you care enough to ask, care enough to impress us and do it right.
Personally, I don't have an opinion of your car one way or the other, if you're happy with your work, that's all that matters.

I'd radiaus the rear fenders to match the flow of the front and keep those black wheels and blackwalls.

how bout painting the stock rims white or red.I have white rims on my 66 dart, and I really like the look. Any way you look at it,it's yours. have fun.

  11. This is version is your best bet. It has the 50's circle track look. Also, beef up the thickness of the numbers like Lux said.

Good on you for not building a Honda with a wing.

this looks best so far, all one color. your ride is sitting to high for me. but if you like it, run it the way you have it. its your car not ours.

I'm going to chime in on here again, i just don't really understand these posts. Ok, here it is - what we do isn't about trying to make something look like a hot rod. They look that way because that is the way they are. Forget the scallops, don't ask about painting the wheels because you should be trying to get it to chirp the tires! Have you taken the carb apart to rebuild and improve how it works? What about the distributor? Plug wires and plugs? Got a split manifold and duals on it? Yea, we know this stuff cost money but if you quit buying tape to mask off for scallops then you could buy the things you need to lay down some rubber and you'd have a hot rod instead of something that looks like one and has been opinionated to death and designed by a committee. You're doing kinda ok, just get the horse in front of the cart. Good luck, oj

Looks great, I look forward to seeing it at Detroit Autorama next year; a Ridler quality ride.

The motor is a 72 350 4 bolt main, fully balenced, 4 barrel, big cam, ported 58cc heads, bla bla bla.

Its got a bit of stink to it:D

    UPDATE.

The cragers are gay, at least on this car. I would have posted up yesterday, but we lost power due to a wind storm. I did manage to get some different tires and wheels on it, and paint the slappers black. I think im a bit more on track.

Ill post some pics after i get back from class today.

At least this kid is trying. If his skills keep progressing at this rate, maybe by the time he's 30 he'll have his own shop pumping out real Ridler quality rides. Maybe you could cut him a check for one

Your last four posts have been cutting someone down. You are a real asset to this forum. It isn't hard to believe that you are a corvette owner.

You are doing what "kids" have done for years. I say that you should continue having at it. Some of the things we did looking back on it was pretty lame and some of it I wish I had back.

You've done a great job putting the car together. Keep on doing what you like.

This is awesome help, if that's what you wanted. If you think about it -dirt track racers would have radiused the rear fenders to easily change the rear tires, Wouldn't they? It does look neater and cleaner without the scallops.

The circle track photochop looks pretty good too. IF you were to cut the fenders, then definitely KEEP the pieces you cut out in case you or a future owner wants them later.

Yep, your car looks great with the steelies! Those Appliance Wheels are screaming mid '70's! They are "wana be" Cragars. You could buy them at J. C. Penneys, Sears, Pep Boys, etc. for $25.00 each back then. That car style needs steelies. The graphics work! I say leave 'em! Cool ride!!!
