Just helped a buddy dig this one out. I was so glad see it not disappear. Anybody "with an eye" driving down I-5 through Ashland has seen this one. It ran around in Southern Oregon in the 50's I've been told. We're trying to piece the story together. I was also told a fellow "Jack McCoy" used to drive it. It was owned by "Legal Beagle" Bill Beagle who unfortunately p***ed in January this year. Great guy with wonderful stories. He had some great stories about the car which I'll try to get straight before I share them with the gang. For now a few pics, enjoy
thats a really awesome car,, i like them when theyre original old school driven to **** hot rods,, cuz the guy who built it back then didnt know they were gonna be worth a damn all he knew was that he wanted to go fast, and probobaly on a budget aswell, Bad*** stuff
GOSH, when I saw the name of the thread, I expected to see the "T" all done Nice score though, what are the plans??
Yeah I think that's what Bill said it was too. I'm hoping we can make it a runner. Have to sort out how far to go with it. We're trying to get some old pics of it before we do anything. I'd like to show it at the roun-d-round or ? It's up to my buddy, but I think I'm a pretty good/bad influence on him Not the "T" yet Chris I'm focusing on my truck, hoping to do the B'ville drive with it this year.
it needs a coat of spray can primer, otherwise it's just a rusty old car... (see "$50 paint job" thread)
The back window is the easiest. I think that's what jack must have done. It has rubber molding around it to cut down on the tet****. I tried to Bo Duke it and about ate ****.
More pics and info: I found out a bit more today. Our local salvage yard guy is long time buddy's with the guys who owned and drove the car. The owner Bill ran Beagle Lumber in Ashland. Had a sawmill, lumberyard,...I guess they did it all from tree to 2x4. It ran a Chrysler Industrial flat 6 motor with a split exhaust manifold. Don't know about the internals or intake yet. You can see were the exhaust exited. Pretty dang cool! Was pretty fast on the west coast. Raced successfully south as far as San Jose. Not sure were it went north of here. It has motor mounts that look perfect for a Ford flat V8, I'll have to measure 'em. I'll take more pics tomorrow. Man I love this ****
a homie i know of a round dirt track open to the public about a hour from ashland its open when ever you get there
