Did they make a magnesium V8 Halibrand quickchange ?

    I was wanting to know if anyone knew if Halibrand made a V8 quickchange rearend out of magnesium ???

    Yes on the intro, and not sure on the V-8 but I do know they made a magnesium centersection called a "no-change" which is really just a stock mag banjo housing.

    Even if they Did dont bother trying for one,magnesium over a period of years will take in water and rot from the inside and you wont know till it's too late.Very strong light material that is a bugger to machine due to it catching fire and burning bright white hot.It has a usable shelf life sensibly in car/motorcycle aplications 10-12 years after that it should be scrapped due to safety in wheels axles brakes hubs and so on.We recently had a machine shop here in the uk go up near the airport,they were machining a piece of 8x4 sheet and the bloke went off to tea leaving the cnc going and it ran out of coolant.The factory floor was still burning 2 days later leaving a 15 foot wide by 8 foot deep crater in the concrete.Like i said it burns hot and for that reason not a lot of people will machine the stuff...............Mad Marq

    Yes but thay are rare and you should do a intro befor thay get all pissy and bitchy. Got a 33 or 4 ? or 40 model cars? [​IMG]
