Customs Did you ever heard about Edfor?

    Edfor was a car built in the mid thirties in Portugal. The car sports a Ford Flathrad V8. IMG_0908.JPG

  8. Might have sold better with more exotic power under that hood. Car looked to be aimed at a more upscale market. With the flathead under the hood, potential deep pocket buyers would have shied away from the mundane performance of a flathead. Hard to justify your new purchase when your next door neighbor's Alfa 4banger will blow your doors off.

    It’s 1937-39, the sound of an American V8 would have been fantastic and it wouldn’t sound like a wimpy POS 4banger no matter how much hp it had.. Hard to believe he got 4 complete with a war in Europe being eminent.

    I have had a liking for that car, for a while, really like the bodywork.
    Manuel de Oliveira, Portuguese Film Maker and Racing Driver was involved in a couple of versions of this, I like the narrowed 35 Ford grille.
    As far as I understand he raced other Ford V8s as well, (can't find the photos)
    Most of the stuff I have found is either in German or Portuguese

    Good looking. There was a sporty car called a Vega with a flathead too, built about 1952. One was at Hershey car show about 25 years ago.
