squirell with all the electronics late models have in them the alternator is running constantly , not like my old Demon which all it had was the ignition to run and maybe the lights and ocassional heater ( radio delete car) so I know that alt in that thing had a easy life ( till I put in the msd ..)

My semis if a battery set ( 4 batteries) lasts more than a year its a miracle without one dying , but the kind of running I did and the constant starting ( had to shut down for loading and some unloading ) killed them quick, plus the bouncing and heat and cold . and $300 a crack it adds up quick ..and that was a cheap no name brand , a interstate or deka was $400 .

my DD's I only use wally worlds , I tried a pepdorks battery ( not the bosch ones ) only to have it short out in 9 months ( the truck is hardly used ) and the counter guys gave me shit about it telling me it was my truck causing the issue and wouldn't give me a replacement per there gaurantee and almost blew it up testing it on the counter , I told them it was shorted . but they did it anyways . every hear a battery get mad ??? they hiss and spit acid and get real hot quick ! ( first time I seen one do this just testing it ) I took that POS in for a core at wally world . that battery is now 6 years old . should be due for a replacement , the one in the other O/t is 8 years old but it hasn't seen a car in 7 years , I bought the battery for a car that was sold before it got home and lost the reciept . I only used it as a jump assist battery and checked its charge monthly .

If you are not refurbishing your tar covered wood box battery, with lead and acid that you cooked up yourself, you don't belong on this board. ;)

So , yes I'm equally incensed to people speaking of "hot water heaters" as they are only water heaters. But I'm equally against using multiple punctuation!!

I'm "pretty sure" most of us call those home water warmer uppers as "hot water heaters" rather than cold water heaters or just water heaters. Never store you battery near a gas hot water heater upper.

Unless your battery is frozen and you want to unthaw it.

    whats t
tar and acid ???? I still am using my Leyden jar and kite ...

I remember in high school chemistry making salt water batterys from lead strips and paper and a salt water solution , problem was if the water dried out it made one hell of a capacitor ..

Never try to jump start a car that has a frozen battery. They go BOOM!
I did not learn this in Florida.

Probably because there aren't any HAMB period correct batteries left?

  10. To unthaw (dethaw) is to freeze?

The bad thing about lithium Ion is they don't work worth a darn in the cold and they can start on fire. Tony Stewart was leading a road course race when the lithium battery in the on board camera started on fire and filled the car with smoke.

Yes I saw that. The reverse of thaw is to unthaw. Sort of similar to talking about a hot water heater as opposed to a cold water heater.
Are we on topic? I suppose if it's a frozen deluxe battery we are.

Lets just let it go before one of those old depends cranks get in, there are 2, and they will get this deleted, you know who they are. "Well I was born before WW2 and I know everything "you know? I'm in that age group and I'll try to not be cranky but I like this discourse.

well if you really look at it a hot water heater would be a boiler or superheater ( used to make dry steam in industry and power )

To get back to the original subject of this thread (changing labels instead of the product) reminds me of something. I guy I know, who is in the business, told me that "Milwaukee's Best Lite" is actually "Miller Lite" with different labels and a much lower price. He said they found it was cheaper just to change the labels rather than shutting down the whole line to change the beer formulation. Sounds logical to me. Another friend claims to have bought a case of "Milwaukee's Best" that was half and half with "Miller Lite".

I just took in a Interstate brand battery to exchange for warranty. It was a 75 month warranty battery , six and a quarter years. This battery gave up on me at three years. I assumed I would get around half credit on a replacement but they pulled out a warranty adjustment sheet and told me that this battery at three years (half way through) would give me 25% credit. Basically I got four and a fourth years service from a six and a fourth year warranted battery. Marketing magic math with no conscience.

I talked to a guy who worked in a cannery in Iowa. He said they would can 10,000 cans of green beans with a Kroger label then 10,000 cans and put a Jolly Green Giant label on them.

    Doesn't matter.

All lite beer is just like sex in a canoe.

I've had Milwaukee's Best, Black Label, and Miller Lite but can't say that I remember having sex in a canoe. Does a row boat count?

I think he means it's "f*ckin' near water". I've been drinking lite beer for so long that I can hardly get a real one down. I do manage to choke a few down if they're free, though!

ever hear of the "j. c. penney battery"? in the 70s, the company had automotive centers in many stores, and marketed its own "guaranteed for life" battery. boy, did penney's ever take a beatin' on them! i had one in my '77 camaro and by the time the battery shot craps (7 years) the warrantee had been changed to 1 free replacement at anyone's store. i wound up with a 24-month firestone battery and had to jump through hoops to get it!
