Looking to buy a used 1/24 scale die cast Imperial. Im building a trophy I need it for the top of the trophy.
Picked up an Ideal Fix-It Cadillac I needed for another project and the seller sweetened the deal with a bunch of smaller diecast vehicles. Mostly Tootsietoy, a Manoil, Barclay and Dinky. My favorite is the Buick Sedanette. It is in near perfect shape and has wood wheels. Did a little research and found out that during the war, Tootsietoy helped support the war effort and went from using rubber to wood for tires on their toys.
Happy Valentine’s Day. I made a homemade card for my wife with some old pictures of her, and our grandkids now. I had to add a red Deuce to the picture. L O L
Completely forgot that I bought this El Camino / 57 Chevy drag trailer set at Carlisle last year. Just finished my display cabinets, so great timing rediscovering it.
I really don't know? I just pick stuff at swap meets, and the family gives some of them as gifts. Sorry. Have a great Tuesday everyone.
Spent some time last week dusting shelves where I have my collections. I guess I like car haulers and a variety of tow vehicles.
Just recently found this topic and will make my first post to this thread. There's some pretty cool stuff and collections everyone has posted. I've always been a model car guy, and a frustrated one at that. Seems like a lot of the vehicles I want to build are not offered in kit form, so I've had to kitbash, modify/cut up something to get there. Resin companies filled some of the gaps, and then diecasts provided an alternative, albeit expensive one. Many times, I started a project, maybe even completed it, only to have the item released by one of the companies. The Bullitt Mustang and Charger for example. I bought two different 1/18 'Stangs to get a 68 body and a correct hood from a '67. Then paid to way too much for a limited edition Yenko Camaro to get a set of torque thrusts. Actually finished that one before you could buy one. My conversion of a '69 Charger to a '68 never did. Most all my build projects are from the early 90's when I had a job with regular hours. As is this one. A SpecCast custom Mercury. I wanted to make a copy of my real custom '51 Merc. Although this is a '49 (as noted by the dash) it had the rear quarter fins and a matching rear bumper of a '51. No one had ever made anything close to a '51. So I bought several. Well, the sides of the car didn't have the classic Mercury door dip, and it doesn't have the line between the upper and lower rear quarter, ... so I got the thinking, Hirohata Mercury?
I made the lower rear quarter panels from sheet styrene, etched in a fender skirt line and molded in a little lip on the bottom edge of the skirt.
